Document management system having document transmission device, document management server, and document management client

Abstract

In a control method for a document management system in which a document transmission device capable of transmitting image data, a document management server of associating image data with a folder as a document and storing and managing the associated image data and folder, and a document management client of browsing the image data of the stored document are connected through a network the server receives and stores registration control information for controlling a document registration process, from the client, transmits the stored registration control information to the device, based on a registration control information acquisition request transmitted from the device, and receives, from the device, the transmitted and designated registration control information and the image data, and stores the received image data as the document on the basis of the received registration control information. Thus, it is possible to easily manage the registration control information.

1 . A data transmission apparatus in a document management system including the data transmission apparatus capable of transmitting data and a document management server of managing the transmitted data by storing to a folder as a document, the data transmission apparatus comprising:
 a first transmission unit, configured to transmit user information to the document management server;   an acquisition unit, configured to acquire registration control information for storing data in a folder of the document management server from the document management server in accordance with transmission of the user information by the first transmission unit, the registration control information being associated to the folder; and   a second transmission unit, configured to transmit data for storing to the folder and the registration control information acquired by said acquisition unit to the document management server.   
   
   
       2 . A data transmission apparatus according to  claim 1 , further comprising a reading unit configured to read an image on a document and to generate image data indication the read image,
 wherein said second transmission unit transmits the image data generated by said reading unit to the document management server.   
   
   
       3 . A data transmission apparatus according to  claim 1 , wherein the registration control information includes folder ID for identifying the folder for storing the transmitted data. 
   
   
       4 . A data transmission apparatus according to  claim 1 , further comprising a display unit configured to display a list of folders managed by the document management server,
 wherein said second transmission unit transmits the data to a folder designated from among the folders displayed by said display unit.   
   
   
       5 . A document management server in a document management system including a data transmission apparatus capable of transmitting data and the document management server of managing the transmitted data by storing to a folder as a document, the document management server comprising:
 a storing unit, configured to store a plurality of folders, each of folders being correlated to registration control information for storing data and user information;   a first reception unit, configured to receive user information from the data transmission apparatus;   a transmission unit, configured to transmit registration control information correlated to the user information received by said first reception unit;   a second reception unit, configured to receive data for storing and the registration control information transmitted by said transmission unit; and   a registration unit, configured to register the data received by said second reception unit to a folder correlated to the registration control information received by said second reception unit.

A document management server according to  claim 5 , wherein the registration control information includes a notification destination, and the server further comprising a notification unit configured to notify the notification destination included in the registration control information of registration of the data received by said second reception unit.

A document management server according to  claim 5 , wherein the registration control information includes an index, and wherein said registration unit registers the data received by said second reception unit to which the index included in the registration control information is set. 
   
   
       8 . A computer-executable program, stored in a computer-readable storage medium, for controlling a document management server in a document management system including a data transmission apparatus capable of transmitting data and the document management server of managing the transmitted data by storing to a folder as a document, the program comprising:
 receiving user information from the data transmission apparatus;   transmitting registration control information correlated to the received user information;   receiving data for storing and the transmitted registration control information; and   registering the received data to a folder correlated to the received registration control information.
