Abstract

The invention relates to a seat insert ( 10 ), in particular for a motor vehicle or an aeroplane seat ( 30 ). Said insert is provided with a gas-tight covering ( 11 ). The covering ( 11 ) at least partially encloses a volume ( 14 ) and has an inner surface ( 12 ) and an outer surface ( 13 ). Also, the seat insert ( 10 ) is provided with a valve ( 40 ) which can regulate the amount of gas in the volume ( 14 ). The covering ( 11 ) comprises at least one climatisation section ( 15 a , 15 b , 15 c ) which is provided with a perforation ( 16 ). The aim of the invention is to produce a seat insert which very comfortable to sit or lie on and which is comparatively simple and economical to produce. The seat insert is provided with an upholstery element ( 20 ) which is made of an open-celled soft foamed material and is connected in a material-fit to the inner surface ( 12 ) of the covering ( 11 ).

A seat insert in particular for a seat of an automotive vehicle or aircraft, provided with a gas-tight covering enclosing a volume at least partly and comprising an inner surface and an outer surface and a valve through which the amount of gas in the volume can be regulated, the covering comprising at least one air conditioning section provided with a perforation, characterized by a pad member made of an open core soft foam positively material connected to the inner surface of the covering.

The seat insert as set forth in  claim 1 , characterized in that the soft foam is made of polyurethane and has a specific weight in the range of approximately 15 kg/m3 to approximately 90 kg/m3 and a crushing strength in the range of approximately 1.5 kPa to approximately 10 kPa. 
   
   
       3 . The seat insert as set forth in  claim 2 , characterized in that the soft foam has a specific weight in the range of approximately 30 kg/m3 to approximately 50 kg/m3. 
   
   
       4 . The seat insert as set forth in  claim 2 , characterized in that the soft foam has a crushing strength in the range of approximately 2.5 kPa to approximately 5.0 kPa. 
   
   
       5 . The seat insert as set forth in  claim 1 , characterized in that the pad member has a thickness (d) in the range of approximately 3.0 mm to approximately 30.0 mm. 
   
   
       6 . The seat insert as set forth in  claim 5 , characterized in that the pad member has a thickness (d) in the range of approximately 5.0 mm to approximately 15.0 mm. 
   
   
       7 . The seat insert as set forth in  claim 1 , characterized in that the perforation consists of a plurality of holes having a diameter in the range of approximately 0.1 mm to approximately 5.0 mm. 
   
   
       8 . The seat insert as set forth in  claim 7 , characterized in that the holes have the same diameter and are arranged equispaced. 
   
   
       9 . The seat insert as set forth in  claim 1 , characterized in that the pad member is made of a molding foam. 
   
   
       10 . The seat insert as set forth in  claim 9 , characterized in that the inner surface of the covering is interconnected to the pad member by back foaming. 
   
   
       11 . The seat insert as set forth in  claim 1 , characterized in that the pad member is made of a block foam. 
   
   
       12 . The seat insert as set forth in  claim 1 , characterized in that the covering is a film. 
   
   
       13 . The seat insert as set forth in  claim 12 , characterized in that the film is made of polyurethane, polyamide or polyethylene. 
   
   
       14 . The seat insert as set forth in  claim 1 , characterized in that the covering is a fabric provided with a gas-tight coating. 
   
   
       15 . The seat insert as set forth in  claim 1 , characterized in that the outer surface of the covering is provided with an air-permeable cover. 
   
   
       16 . The seat insert as set forth in  claim 1 , characterized in that the valve is arranged replaceable in the covering. 
   
   
       17 . The seat insert as set forth in  claim 1 , characterized in that the valve is connected to a pump by which the volume is evacuated to a predetermined vacuum or charged with gas to a predetermined pressure. 
   
   
       18 . The seat insert as set forth in  claim 17 , characterized in that the vacuum or pressure is in the range of approximately 1.0 kPa to approximately 100 kPa relative to ambient pressure. 
   
   
       19 . The seat insert as set forth in  claim 18 , characterized in that the vacuum or pressure is in the range of approximately 5.0 kPa to approximately 30 kPa relative to ambient pressure. 
   
   
       20 . The seat insert as set forth in  claim 1 , characterized in that the volume is divided into a plurality of chambers each hermetically sealed from the other, a pad member being arranged in each chamber, an air conditioning section being assigned to each chamber. 
   
   
       21 . A seat, particularly for application in an automotive vehicle or aircraft comprising a seat cushion and a backrest, characterized by a seat insert as set forth in  claim 1 . 
   
   
       22 . The seat as set forth in  claim 21 , characterized in that the seat cushion and/or the backrest (comprises a carcass clad with a cover. 
   
   
       23 . The seat as set forth in  claim 22 , characterized in that the seat insert is disposed between the carcass and the cover. 
   
   
       24 . The seat as set forth in  claim 22 , characterized in that the seat insert is arranged on the cover.
