Abstract
A computer readable medium stores a computer program that provisions an announcement to be played to a requester. The computer readable medium stores and include code segments. A storing code segment stores multiple announcements. A receiving code segment receives a request to send the announcement to be played to the requester to an announcement device, in response to a determination that the announcement is not stored locally at the announcement device. A sending code segment sends the announcement to the announcement device in response to the request.

exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A computer readable medium for storing a computer program that provisions an announcement to be played to a requester, the computer readable medium comprising:
a storing code segment that stores a plurality of announcements; a receiving code segment that receives a request to send the announcement to be played to the requester to an announcement device, in response to a determination that the announcement is not stored locally at the announcement device; and a sending code segment that sends the announcement to the announcement device in response to the request.
2 . The computer readable medium according to claim 1 , wherein the announcement is sent to the announcement device via a voice over internet protocol communication.
3 . The computer readable medium according to claim 2 , wherein the announcement device converts voice over internet protocol packets to time division multiplexing voice data.
4 . The computer readable medium according to claim 1 , wherein the announcement is sent to the announcement device via one of internet protocol packets, asynchronous transfer mode cells, or frame relay frames.
5 . The computer readable medium according to claim 1 , wherein the announcement device is connected to a central office switch.
6 . The computer readable medium according to claim 1 , further comprising an announcement receiving code segment that receives the announcement from a processor.
7 . The computer readable medium according to claim 1 , wherein the announcement device comprises an intelligent peripheral configured to communicate using at least one of a media gateway control protocol and a session initiation protocol.
8 . The computer readable medium according to claim 1 , further comprising a converting code segment that converts the announcement to voice over internet protocol packets.
9 . A method for provisioning an announcement to be played to a requester, the method comprising:
storing a plurality of announcements at a centralized storage; receiving a request to send the announcement to be played to the requester to an announcement device, in response to a determination that the announcement is not stored locally at the announcement device; and sending the announcement to the announcement device in response to the request.
10 . The method according to claim 9 , wherein the announcement is sent to the announcement device via a voice over internet protocol communication.
11 . The method according to claim 10 , wherein the announcement device converts voice over internet protocol packets to time division multiplexing voice data.
12 . The method according to claim 9 , wherein the announcement is sent to the announcement device via one of internet protocol packets, asynchronous transfer mode cells, or frame relay frames.
13 . The method according to claim 9 , wherein the announcement device is connected to a central office switch.
14 . The method according to claim 9 , wherein the announcement device comprises an intelligent peripheral configured to operate at least one of the media gateway control protocol or session initiation protocol.
15 . A recorded announcement system for provisioning an announcement to be played to a requester, the system comprising:
a centralized recorded announcement unit configured to store the announcement and to send the announcement to an announcement device in response to a determination that the announcement is not locally stored at the announcement device.
16 . The system according to claim 15 , wherein the announcement is sent to the announcement device via a voice over internet protocol communication.
17 . The system according to claim 15 , wherein the announcements are stored in at least one of waveform audio format (WAV) and mpeg 3 (mp3).
18 . The system according to claim 15 , wherein the announcement is sent in response to a request received via a router.
19 . The system according to claim 15 , wherein the announcement device comprises a switch that determines a particular announcement to provide to a requester.
