Abstract

Embodiments of the invention relate to methods and compositions for treating symptoms related to inflammatory conditions and to methods and compositions for treating inflammatory components of common cold, utilizing various method of administration of X-ray contrast media (CM).

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
. A method of treating a skin inflammatory condition in a mammal in need thereof, comprising contacting at least part of the skin of a mammal with a therapeutically effective amount of a composition comprising an X-ray contrast media.

. The method of claim 1 , further comprising identifying the mammal as a mammal that suffers from a condition related to skin inflammation or dermatitis.

. The method of claim 1 , wherein the condition is selected from eczema, dermatosis, insect bite reaction, sunburn or other skin allergen reactions.

- 7 . (canceled)

. The method of claim 3 , wherein the skin allergen is a cleaning solution (including shampoo), a detergent, a cosmetic, a perfume, an industrial chemical, a latex rubber, poison ivy, poison oak, poison sumac, a dust allergen, or a grass allergen.

. The method of claim 1 , wherein the composition is formulated as a topical formulation.

. The method of claim 9 , wherein the topical formulation comprises a formulation selected from a gel formulation, a cream formulation, a lotion formulation, a paste formulation, an ointment formulation, an oil formulation, and a foam formulation.

. The method of claim 1 , wherein the composition further comprises an absorption emollient.

. The method of claim 1 wherein the at least part of the affected area of the mammal is contacted with the composition on a daily basis.

. (canceled)

. The method of claim 1 , wherein the X-ray contrast media is selected from the group consisting of either a monomeric or dimeric, nonionic or ionic contrast media.

. The method of claim 1 , wherein the X-ray contrast media comprises triiodinated, completely or partially substituted, benzene moieties existing in the form of a monomer or a dimer.

. The method of claim 1 , wherein the X-ray contrast media is selected from the group consisting of IOPAMIDOL, IOVERSOL, IOPROMIDE, IOHEXOL, IOTHALAMATE, DIATRIZOATE, IOXAGLATE, IODIPAMIDE, IODIXANOL, IOPANOIC ACID, TYROPANOATE AND IOTROLAN.

. A method of treating inflammation of the upper respiratory track/bronchi in a mammal in need thereof, comprising contacting at least part of the upper respiratory tract/bronchi of a mammal with a therapeutically effective amount of a composition comprising an X-ray contrast media.

. (canceled)

. The method of claim 17 , wherein the composition is formulated as an aerosol formulation.

- 21 . (canceled)

. A method of treating a colon inflammatory condition in a mammal in need thereof comprising contacting at least part of the colon of a mammal with a therapeutically effective amount of a composition comprising an X-ray contrast media.

- 26 . (canceled)

. A method of treating a condition related to inflammation of the esophagus in a mammal in need thereof, comprising contacting at least part of the esophagus of the mammal with a therapeutically effective amount of a composition comprising an X-ray contrast media.

- 30 . (canceled)

. A topical composition comprising an X-ray contrast media and a pharmaceutically acceptable topical carrier.

. The composition of claim 31 , wherein the topical composition is formulated as a formulation selected from a gel, a cream, a lotion, a paste, an ointment, an oil, and a foam.

. The composition of claim 31 , wherein the composition is formulated to be substantially absorbed by an epidermal layer of the skin.

. The composition of claim 31 , wherein the pharmaceutically acceptable carrier is an absorption emollient.

. The composition of claim 31 , wherein the X-ray contrast media is selected from the group consisting of IOPAMIDOL, IOVERSOL, IOPROMIDE, IOHEXOL, IOTHALAMATE, DIATRIZOATE, IOXAGLATE, IODIPAMIDE, IODIXANOL, IOPANOIC ACID, TYROPANOATE AND IOTROLAN.

- 40 . (canceled)

. A method of treating a common cold, comprising administering a therapeutically effective amount of a composition comprising an X-ray contrast media.

- 44 . (canceled)
