Abstract

A self-extinguishing candle comprising wax and a wick embedded therein, the improvement comprising providing at least one fire resistant area on the wick to control interval burning.

       2 . The candle of  claim 1 , wherein the wick has a plurality of fire resistant areas. 
   
   
       3 . The candle of  claim 2 , wherein the fire resistant areas are formed by metal bands wrapped around the wick. 
   
   
       4 . The candle of  claim 3 , wherein the metals bands comprise steel. 
   
   
       5 . The candle of  claim 3 , wherein the metal bands are wrapped around the wick at regular intervals. 
   
   
       6 . The candle of  claim 2 , wherein the fire resistant areas are formed by fire resistant chemicals infused into the wick. 
   
   
       7 . A candle with alterations to its wick to create and manipulate timed intervals of open flame burning.
