System and Methods for Establishing a Telephony Session from a Remote Dialing Unit

Abstract

A system for initiating a telephony session includes a first dialing unit with access to a list of telephone numbers, and a second dialing unit having connectivity to the first dialing unit. A user operating the first dialing unit highlights a telephone number from the list of telephone numbers and sends the dialing instructions associated with the selected number to the second dialing unit wherein the second dialing unit dials the number initiating the telephony session based at least in part on the instructions received.

1 . A system for initiating a telephony session comprising:
 a first dialing unit with access to a list of telephone numbers; and   a second dialing unit having connectivity to the first dialing unit;   characterized in that a user operating the first dialing unit highlights a telephone number from the list of telephone numbers and sends the dialing instructions associated with the selected number to the second dialing unit wherein the second dialing unit dials the number initiating the telephony session based at least in part on the instructions received.   
   
   
       2 . A user-operated system for causing an external telephone dialer to dial a telephone number comprising:
 a mobile telephony device having a speaker system and an internal duel tone multiple frequency dialer; and   a dialer extension integrated with a microphone on the external telephone dialer for capturing a dual tone multiple frequency telephone number sequence dialed by the internal dialer and played by mobile telephony device over the speaker system;   characterized in that the telephone number sequence played is recorded and dialed by the external telephone dialer.   
   
   
       3 . A method for initiating a telephony session using a first dialing unit with access to a list of telephone numbers and a second dialing unit having connectivity to the first dialing unit comprising the steps:
 (a) selecting a telephone number using the first dialing unit;   (b) preparing a telephony dialing sequence or instruction;   (c) transferring the dialing sequence or instruction from the first dialing unit to the second dialing unit; and   (d) from the second dialing unit, executing the dialing sequence or instruction.   
   
   
       4 . A method for transferring a dialing command to a telephone from a mobile device comprising the steps:
 (a) working on the mobile device, selecting a telephone number to dial;   (b) generating a dialing tone sequence and/or executable dialing command;   (c) if a sequence at step (b), playing the sequence over the speaker system using a dialer on the mobile device;   (d) if a command at step (b), embedding the command into an electronic message; and,   (e) receiving at the telephone, the telephone dialing sequence and/or command from the mobile device.   
   
   
       5 . A routing system comprising:
 a first telephony device for initiating a telephone call:   a second telephony device for executing the telephone call;   a third telephony device for receiving the telephone call; and   a telephone switch for connecting the telephone call;   characterized in that a user operating the first telephony device routes an instruction to the second telephony device to place a call to the third telephony device, the call connected at the switch.
