Abstract
A low friction fabric constructed of an outer cover (first layer) of woven fibers with an upper and lower woven surface attached to a structure (i.e.: shoe insert, shoe liner, insole, or sock liner). A second structure (which as part of the system, acts as a second layer) of a fabric of the same or similar weave of fibers, this second structure (i.e. a sock) having an upper and lower surface with an anisotropic weave with the fibers of the upper woven surface running orthogonal to the position of the fibers on the upper woven surface of the first structure. The combination of both structures results in a system that is specifically oriented to take advantage of that anisotropy to reduce friction. Each of the woven layers is formed with a straight yarn in the warp of the weave pattern with the weaves of the layers being oriented at a 90 degree angle to one another.

A low friction fabric system comprising a first fabric structure of woven material including a first upper and a first lower woven surface forming a first layer and a second fabric structure having a second upper and a second lower woven surface forming a second layer, said second layer being in contact with said first lower surface of said first layer, said first layer having a weave of a first orientation contacting said second upper surface of said second layer, said second layer having a weave oriented from 30 to 90 degrees relative to the orientation of said first layer.
2 . The low friction fabric of claim 1 wherein said first layer and said second layer are a shoe liner and a sock.
3 . The low friction fabric of claim 1 wherein said first layer and said second layer are a shoe insert and a sock.
4 . The low friction fabric as claimed in claim 1 wherein said fabric structures are constructed of fibers chosen from the group consisting of polyester, acetate, acrylic, cotton, elastic latex fibers (e.g., Lastex®), linen, nylon, rayon, silk, velvet, Spandex®, wool, and combinations thereof.
5 . The low friction fabric of claim 1 wherein said fabric is a bandage.

A low friction fabric system comprising a first structure with an upper layer of woven fibers having any anisotropic weave with a first upper and first lower surface combined to a second structure's of woven fibers, said woven fibers comprising an over four under one weave defining a second upper and second lower surface, said first and second surfaces comprising a straight yarn in the warp of the weave pattern and a low twist yarn in the weft of the weave pattern, said first lower surface of said first structure being in contact with said second structure's upper surface of said second layer with the weft yarn of said layers being oriented from 30 to 90 degrees relative to one another.
7 . The low friction fabric of claim 4 wherein said first structure and said second structure are attached.

A low friction fabric system comprising a first structure with a first upper layer and first lower layer woven surface mounted to a second structure, said second structure having an upper layer of woven material of the same weave and an upper layer and second lower woven surface, said first and second structure being in contact, said first lower layer surface of said first structure having a weave of a first orientation contacting the entire surface of said second upper layer surface of said second structure, said second upper layer having a weave with a second orientation substantially orthogonal to the weave of said first layer to reduce the coefficient of friction between the layers.
9 . The low friction fabric of claim 8 wherein said first structure and said second structure are a shoe liner and a sock.
10 . The low friction fabric of claim 8 wherein said first structure and said second structure are a shoe insert and a sock.
