Abstract

The foldable table includes a table top having a track, a rack and a strut-retainer on its underside. The strut-retainer is slidable along the track until a key with which the strut-retainer is provided engages any one of the teeth of the rack at which time, the strut-retainer is immobilized. A strut extends from the strut-retainer to a leg assembly which is pivotally attached to the table top. The angle of the table top can be adjusted by sliding the strut-retainer along the track.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A foldable table comprising: a table top; a strut-retainer movable relative to said table top; means for selectively immobilizing said strut-retainer relative to said table top; a leg assembly pivotal with respect to said table top; and a strut extending from said strut-retainer to said leg assembly for immobilizing said leg assembly relative to said table top upon said immobilization of said strut-retainer.

2 . The foldable table of claim 1 wherein said immobilizing means is located beneath said table top such that said strut-retainer can be activated and deactivated while said table is unfolded and while said table top is in position to support objects placed thereon.

3 . The foldable table of claim 1 further including a rack stationary relative to said strut-retainer, said immobilizing means including a key associated with said strut-retainer for selectively engaging said rack for immobilizing said strut-retainer.

4 . The foldable table of claim 3 wherein said key is located beneath said table top such that said strut-retainer can be activated and deactivated while said table is unfolded and while said table top is in position to support objects placed thereon.

5 . The foldable table of claim 2 wherein said rack has a plurality of teeth and said key is slidable relative to said teeth, said key having a protrusion which, upon sliding of said key, slides from a first position in which said protrusion is in a space between adjacent said teeth with resulting immobilization of said strut-retainer in said track to a second position in which said protrusion is out of said space and allows movement of said strut-retainer along in said track.

6 . The foldable table of claim 2 wherein said table top has an upper surface and an underside, said underside having a track along which said strut-retainer moves.

7 . The foldable table of claim 1 further including a foot assembly having a horizontal portion for supporting said table in an upright position; and leg extending means for selectively increasing the effective length of said leg assembly such that the distance between said table top and said horizontal portion is adjustable.

8 . A foldable table comprising: a table top having an upper surface and an underside, a track associated with said underside; a rack; a strut-retainer, said strut-retainer being movable along said track and having a key which is selectively engageable with said rack and which, when so engaged, preventing said strut-retainer from moving along said track; a leg assembly pivotal with respect to said table top; and a strut extending from said strut-retainer to said leg assembly for preventing pivoting of said leg assembly relative to said table top.

9 . The foldable table of claim 8 wherein said key is located beneath said table top such that said strut-retainer can be activated and deactivated while said table is unfolded and while said table top is in position to support objects placed thereon.

10 . The foldable table of claim 8 wherein said rack has a plurality of teeth and said key is slidable relative to said teeth, said key having a protrusion which, upon sliding of said key, slides from a first position in which said protrusion is in a space between adjacent said teeth with resulting immobilization of said strut-retainer in said track to a second position in which said protrusion is out of said space and allows movement of said strut-retainer along in said track.

11 . The foldable table of claim 10 further including a foot assembly having a horizontal portion for supporting said table in an upright position; and leg extending means for selectively increasing the effective length of said leg
