Abstract
The ACP1 *A allele provides a means for diagnosing susceptibility of a human subject to hyperlipidemia, especially hyperlipidemia associated with metabolic syndrome, a means for treating, or preventing the onset of, hyperlipidemia and metabolic syndrome, and a means for screening and identifying drugs suitable for use in treating or preventing hyperlipidemia, especially hyperlipidemia associated with metabolic syndrome. Diagnostic kits are also provided.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A method for inhibiting acid phosphatase-1 (ACP-1) activity in a cell, which comprises introducing into said cell a polynucleotide composition, wherein said polynucleotide composition interferes with a parameter selected from the group consisting of transcription, translation and both transcription and translation, of ACP-1.
2 . The method of claim 1 wherein said polynucleotide composition comprises polydeoxyribonucleic acid.
3 . The method of claim 1 wherein said polynucleotide composition comprises polyribonucleic acid.
4 . The method of claim 1 wherein said polynucleotide composition hybridizes with an mRNA molecule that encodes an ACP-1 polypeptide.
5 . The method of claim 1 wherein said polynucleotide composition comprises an antisense polynucleotide.
6 . A method of treating or preventing hyperlipidemia in a subject in need thereof, which comprises introducing into said cell a polynucleotide composition, wherein said polynucleotide composition interferes with a parameter selected from the group consisting of transcription, translation and both transcription and translation, of ACP-1.
7 . The method of claim 6 wherein said polynucleotide composition comprises polydeoxyribonucleic acid.
8 . The method of claim 6 wherein said polynucleotide composition comprises polyribonucleic acid.
9 . The method of claim 6 wherein said polynucleotide composition hybridizes with an mRNA molecule that encodes an ACP-1 polypeptide.
10 . The method of claim 6 wherein said polynucleotide composition comprises an antisense polynucleotide.
11 . An ACP-1 antisense nucleotide molecule.
12 . An ACP-1 interfering RNA molecule.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
