Abstract

Broadly, the invention provides for newly available essentially formaldehyde-free furanic materials for lower-staining, higher reactivity, chemically resistant grout formulations.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A furanic grout comprising:
 a. furfuryl alcohol, b. between about 1 wt-% and 90 wt-% of said furfuryl alcohol being replaced with 5-hydroxymethyl furan (HMF); c. an aromatic polyol between about 1 wt-% and 50 wt %; d. and optionally glycerol, optionally, silane, and optionally water

2 . The furanic grout according to claim 1 , comprising:
 e. a filler.

3 . The furanic grout according to claim 2 , wherein the filler comprises an inorganic filler selected from the group consisting of sand, clay, graphite, silicate, silica, carbon fiber, and glass fiber.

4 . The furanic grout according to claim 1 comprising
 a catalyst.

5 . The furanic grout according to claim 4 , wherein the catalyst is an acid.

6 . The furanic grout according to claim 1 , comprising a glycerol and/or silane.

         7 . The furanic grout according to claim 1 , comprising bisphenol-A and/or bisphenol A tar.

         8 . A furanic grout comprising:
 a. furfuryl alcohol, b. between about 1 wt-% and 90 wt-% of said furfuryl alcohol being replaced with 2,5 furan dimethanol (FDM); c. an aromatic polyol between about 1 wt-% and 50 wt %; d. and optionally glycerol, optionally, silane, and optionally water

9 . The furanic grout according to claim 8 comprising:
 e. a filler.

10 . The furanic grout according to claim 9 , wherein the filler comprises an inorganic filler selected from the group consisting of sand, clay, graphite, silicate, silica, carbon fiber, and glass fiber.

11 . The furanic grout according to claim 8 , comprising
 a catalyst.

12 . The furanic grout according to claim 11 , wherein the catalyst is an acid.

13 . The furanic grout according to claim 8 , comprising a glycerol and/or silane.

         14 . The furanic grout according to claim 8 , comprising bisphenol-A and/or bisphenol A tar.

         15 . A furanic grout comprising:
 a. furfuryl alcohol, b. between about 1 wt-% and 90 wt-% of said furfuryl alcohol being replaced with blends of HMF and FDM at weight ratios between the two components of about 1 to about 99 HMF to FDM, to about 99 to about 1 HMF to FDM; c. an aromatic polyol between about 15 wt-% and 50 wt %; d. and optionally glycerol, optionally, silane, and optionally water

16 . The furanic grout according to claim 15 comprising:
 e. a filler.

17 . The furanic grout according to claim 16 , wherein the filler comprises an inorganic filler selected from the group consisting of sand, clay, graphite, silicate, silica, carbon fiber, and glass fiber.

18 . The furanic grout according to claim 15 , comprising
 a catalyst.

19 . The furanic grout according to claim 18 , wherein the catalyst is an acid.

20 . The furanic grout according to claim 15 , comprising a glycerol and/or silane.

         21 . The furanic grout according to claim 15 , comprising bisphenol-A and/or bisphenol A tar.
