Power line audio communication system

Abstract

A communication system associated with premises power distribution lines can be used to transmit audio data via the distribution lines. First and second transceivers can communicate bi-directionally over the distribution lines to transmit the audio data. The audio data can be provided by a computer coupled to one of the transceivers. One or more portions of the premises power distribution lines can be used as radiators to wirelessly transmit the audio data to one or more devices.

1 . A system, comprising:
 a first transceiver configured to be connected to a set of premises power distribution lines;   a second transceiver configured to be connected to the set of premises power distribution lines, wherein the first and second transceivers are configured to communicate bi-directionally through the set of premises power distribution lines; and   a computer configured to transmit audio data via the first transceiver to the second transceiver through the set of premises power distribution lines.   
   
   
       2 . The system of  claim 1 , further comprising a speaker configured to be coupled to the second transceiver and to play the transmitted audio data. 
   
   
       3 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the audio data is compressed digital audio data. 
   
   
       4 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the second transceiver comprises a wireless receiver configured to receive signals radiated by at least a portion of the premises power distribution lines. 
   
   
       5 . The system of  claim 4 , wherein the wireless receiver comprises a microphone.
