Head Covering With Unobstructed Vision
Abstract
A head covering system includes a hood connected to a head covering apparel by a fastening system so that the hood moves with the head and does not block side peripheral vision. In one embodiment fasteners are provided for connecting the hood to the bill of a cap. Such fasteners include snaps on the bill and the hood, or a hook and strap fastener that is positioned across the base of the bill proximate the users head. The hook and strap fastener may be detachably attached to the hood using fasteners such as snaps, or the strap may be an elastic strap permanently attached to the hood, preferably disposed between layers that form the top of the hood. A draw string cooperates with the fastening system to position the hood in a desired position and onfiguration.

5 . The head covering system of claim 1 wherein:
the hood has an outer edge for being disposed near the face of the user, and the cap disposes the outer edge of the hood in a desired position relative to the face of the user when the cap is fastened to the hood, and further comprising at least one drawstring system for pulling the hood such that it conforms at least partially to the head, the drawstring system cooperating with the cap to position the outer edge of the hood above the eyes of the user to protect the user's eyes from the elements, and to position the outer edge of the hood on both sides of the user's eyes to allow a desired amount of side peripheral vision that is unobstructed by the hood, the cap for turning the hood with the user's head so that the side peripheral vision is substantially maintained when the head is turned.
6 . The head covering system of claim 1 wherein:
the fastening system comprises snap fasteners, and optionally an elastic strap, at least one of the fasteners being attached to the elastic strap, the snap fasteners having first and second components that snap together and apart, at least one first component being disposed on the cap and at least one second component being disposed on the hood, wherein the second component may be attached to the optional elastic strap, the strap being attached to the hood for positioning the second component in a location for mating with the first component and positioning the hood in a desired position on the user's head, at least one of the first or second component being mounted in a stationary position on the cap or the hood, respectively.
