Abstract

The present invention describes an implantable tissue lifting and fixation device. More particularly, the present invention describes a temporal brow lifting device comprises of a bio-absorbable supportive backing. The device has a shape of a curvilinear end and a tail end region. The curvilinear end region comprises a plurality of attachment points protruding from the supportive backing, and the tail region comprises of a plurality of cavities in order to secure the device at the desired elevated position in the deep temporal fascia. The plurality of attachment points distributes tension in a multi-vector direction over the contact area between the device and the tissue. The attachment points can be manufactured separately and attached, however, preferably, the attachment points are made integral with the temporal brow lifting device.

1 . A tissue lifting device comprising:
 a supportive backing having a proximal surface and a distal surface, said supportive backing comprising:
 a curvilinear region; and 
 a tail region; 
   wherein said curvilinear region comprises of a plurality of attachment points protruding from the distal surface of said supportive backing, and   wherein said tail region comprises of a plurality of cavities to secure said device into deep temporal fascia.   
   
   
       2 . The tissue lifting device as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein said supportive backing comprises of a bio-resorbable material. 
   
   
       3 . The tissue lifting device as claimed in  claim 2 , wherein said bio-resorbable material comprises a polymer or copolymer. 
   
   
       4 . The tissue lifting device as claimed in  claim 3 , wherein said polymer or copolymer comprises one or more materials selected from the group consisting of polyglycolide, polylactide, poly-alpha-caprolactone, polydiaxanone, polyglyconate, polylactide-co-glycolide, their mixtures, alloys, and random and block copolymers. 
   
   
       5 . The tissue lifting device as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein said supportive backing comprises porous material. 
   
   
       6 . The tissue lifting device as claimed in  claim 5 , wherein said porous material comprises a mesh, net, or lattice. 
   
   
       7 . The tissue lifting device as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein said supportive backing comprises a solid material. 
   
   
       8 . The tissue lifting device as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein said curvilinear region has a lateral length in the range of between 50 mm and 20 mm. 
   
   
       9 . The tissue lifting device as claimed in  claim 8 , wherein said curvilinear region has a lateral length in the range of between 45 mm and 25 mm. 
   
   
       10 . The tissue lifting device as claimed in  claim 9 , wherein said curvilinear region has a lateral length in the range of between 40 mm and 30 mm. 
   
   
       11 . The tissue lifting device as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein said attachment point comprises of a bio-resorbable material. 
   
   
       12 . The tissue lifting device as claimed in  claim 11 , wherein said bio-resorbable material comprises a polymer or copolymer. 
   
   
       13 . The tissue lifting device as claimed in  claim 12 , wherein said polymer or copolymer comprises one or more materials selected from the group consisting of polyglycolide, polylactide, poly-alpha-caprolactone, polydiaxanone, polyglyconate, polylactide-co-glycolide, their mixtures, alloys, and random and block copolymers. 
   
   
       14 . The tissue lifting device as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein said attachment points are varied in density on said curvilinear region. 
   
   
       15 . The tissue lifting device as claimed in  claim 1  wherein said attachment points are varied in length on said curvilinear region. 
   
   
       16 . The tissue lifting device as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein said plurality of attachment points having a shape selected from the group consisting of canted tines, erect tines, canted hooks, canted arrowheads, erect barbed tipped tines, canted barbed tipped tines, erect arrowhead tipped tines, canted arrowhead tipped tines, erect nail-shaped tines, canted nail-shaped tines, and cheese grater-like tines. 
   
   
       17 . The tissue lifting device as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein said attachment points each define a facet configured to be perpendicular to a plane defined by tissue to be pierced by said attachment points. 
   
   
       18 . The tissue lifting device as claimed in  claim 1 , said supportive backing comprises a plurality of open through which a plurality of attachment points are affixed. 
   
   
       19 . The tissue lifting device as claimed in  claim 15 , wherein said plurality of attachment points are secured to said supportive backing by a flange or hub. 
   
   
       20 . The tissue lifting device as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein said device is used to perform a temporal brow lifting surgery. 
   
   
       21 . A method of tissue lifting in a temporal brow-lift surgical procedure, said method comprising the steps of:
 a) setting tissue or layer of tissue to be approximated on a tissue lifting device comprising:
 a supportive backing, said supportive backing comprises of a curvilinear region, and a tail region, said curvilinear region comprises of a plurality of attachment points extending from said supportive backing, and said tail region comprising a plurality of cavities; 
   b) mobilizing said tissue or layer of tissue via said tissue lifting device; and   c) securing said tissue lifting device to a deep temporal fascia.   
   
   
       22 . The method as claimed in  claim 21 , wherein said tissue or layer of tissue comprises brow tissue. 
   
   
       23 . The method as claimed in  claim 21 , wherein said tissue or layer of tissue in said step a) is set on said tissue lifting device via said plurality of attachment points. 
   
   
       24 . The method as claimed in  claim 21 , further comprising a preliminary step of cutting said tissue or layer of tissue by a predetermined length. 
   
   
       25 . The method as claimed in  claim 24 , wherein said tissue or layer of tissue in said step b) is mobilized by said predetermined length. 
   
   
       26 . The method as claimed in  claim 21 , wherein said tissue lifting device in said step c) is secured to said deep temporal fascia via said cavities of the tail region. 
   
   
       27 . The method as claimed in  claim 26 , wherein said tissue lifting device is secured by suturing via said cavities of the tail region. 
   
   
       28 . A method of tissue lifting in a brow-lift surgical procedure comprising:
 a) securing a tissue lifting device to a deep temporal fascia, said tissue lifting device comprising:
 a supportive backing, said supportive backing comprises of a curvilinear region, and a tail region, said curvilinear region comprises of a plurality of attachment points extending from said supportive backing, and said tail region comprising a plurality of cavities; 
   b) mobilizing tissue or layer of tissue to be approximated towards said tissue lifting device; and   c) setting said tissue or layer of tissue onto said tissue lifting device.   
   
   
       29 . The method as claimed in  claim 28 , wherein said tissue or layer of tissue comprises brow tissue. 
   
   
       30 . The method as claimed in  claim 28 , wherein said tissue or layer of tissue in said step c) is set on said tissue lifting device via said plurality of attachment points. 
   
   
       31 . The method as claimed in  claim 28 , further comprising a preliminary step of cutting said tissue or layer of tissue by a predetermined length. 
   
   
       32 . The method as claimed in  claim 31 , wherein said tissue or layer of tissue in said step b) is mobilized by said predetermined length. 
   
   
       33 . The method as claimed in  claim 28 , wherein said tissue lifting device in said step a) is secured to said temporal fascia via said anchoring post.
