Abstract

A promotional piece with a pop-up feature is provided to effectively capture the attention of consumers. The promotional piece with a pop-up feature is movable from a closed to an open position and includes a backing substrate and a presentation substrate. The presentation substrate is selectively joined to the backing substrate by any suitable means. When the promotional piece with a pop-up feature is moved from the closed to the open position, at least a portion of the presentation substrate is caused to project away from the underlying portion of the presentation substrate. A high speed in-line manufacturing method for producing a plurality of promotional pieces with a pop-up feature is also provided. The promotional piece with a pop-up feature may be used in various applications, such as product packaging, promotional or advertising mailers, greeting cards, announcement cards, and other like applications.

 (i) a first presentation section ( 220 ) defined by the first fold line ( 202 ) and a portion of the presentation substrate perimeter ( 210 ), the first presentation section ( 220 ) having a first presentation section length ( 222 );
 (ii) a second presentation section ( 230 ) defined by the first fold line ( 202 ), the second fold line ( 204 ), and at least two portions of the presentation substrate perimeter ( 210 ), the second presentation section ( 230 ) having a second presentation section length ( 232 ) and an aperture ( 234 ), the aperture ( 234 ) having an aperture length ( 235 );
 (iii) a third presentation section ( 240 ) defined by the second fold line ( 204 ), the third fold line ( 206 ), and at least two portions of the presentation substrate perimeter ( 210 ), the third presentation section ( 240 ) having a third presentation section length ( 242 ); and
 (iv) a fourth presentation section ( 250 ) defined by the third fold line ( 206 ) and a portion of the presentation substrate perimeter ( 210 ), the fourth presentation section ( 250 ) having a fourth presentation section length ( 252 ); wherein:
 (a) at least a portion of the first presentation section ( 220 ) is joined to a portion of the first backing substrate region ( 130 ) such that the presentation substrate ( 200 ) and backing substrate ( 100 ) are simultaneously movable from a closed position to an open position; and
 (b) the third presentation section ( 240 ) and the fourth presentation section ( 250 ) are folded about the second fold line ( 204 ), and at least a portion of the fourth presentation section ( 250 ) is joined to a portion of the second backing substrate region ( 140 ) through the aperture ( 234 ) such that when the backing substrate ( 100 ) and the presentation substrate ( 200 ) are in the closed position the third presentation section ( 240 ) is substantially adjacent to the second presentation section ( 230 ), and when the backing substrate ( 100 ) and the presentation substrate ( 200 ) are moved to the open position the movement of the second presentation section ( 230 ) causes at least a portion of the third presentation section ( 240 ) to project away from the second presentation section ( 230 ).

       2 . The promotional piece with a pop-up feature ( 50 ) of  claim 1 , wherein the presentation substrate ( 200 ) fits within the backing substrate perimeter ( 120 ).

       3 . The promotional piece with a pop-up feature ( 50 ) of  claim 1 , wherein the backing substrate ( 1   00 ) and the presentation substrate ( 200 ) are composed of the same material.

       4 . The promotional piece with a pop-up feature ( 50 ) of claim 1 , wherein the second fold line ( 204 ) and the third fold line ( 206 ) are separation lines that permit a user to easily remove the third presentation section ( 240 ) from the promotional piece with a pop-up feature ( 50 ) when the third presentation section ( 240 ) projects away from the second presentation section ( 230 ).

       5 . The promotional piece with a pop-up feature ( 50 ) of  claim 1 , wherein the fourth presentation section ( 250 ) conceals the aperture ( 234 ) when the backing substrate ( 100 ) and the presentation substrate ( 200 ) are in the open position.

       6 . The promotional piece with a pop-up feature ( 50 ) of  claim 1 , wherein:
 (a) the first presentation section length ( 222 ) is substantially equal to the second presentation section length ( 232 ); (b) the third presentation section length ( 242 ) is substantially equal to the fourth presentation section length ( 252 ); and (c) the third presentation section length ( 242 ) and the fourth presentation section length ( 252 ) are shorter than the first presentation section length ( 222 ) and the second presentation section length ( 232 ).

       7 .
