Abstract
A system is presented providing content to a plurality of handheld devices (including musical selections). The devices can access a server over the Internet via a WIFI or other similar wireless interconnection and can download songs requested by a user from the server or from other users using, e.g., a P2P protocol. All downloads are governed by applicable DRM rules. Content and playlists may also be pushed by a server from other sources and means including, e.g., podcasting, based on predetermined rules, favorite preferences of users, and other criteria.

storing cataloging data on a media storage means; selecting cataloging data for delivery to a user operated device, distributing modified cataloging data to said user operated device, and modifying cataloging data on user operated device with delivered cataloging data.
. The method of claim 9 , wherein said modification is accomplished through statistical means.
. The method of claim 9 , wherein said delivery is accomplished at user-specified periodicity.
. The method of claim 9 , wherein said delivery is accomplished at regular intervals.
. The method of claim 9 , wherein said cataloguing data is replicated at a second user operated device.
. The method of claim 9 , wherein said delivery is accomplished based upon user-selection.
. The method of claim 9 , wherein said modification is accomplished through determinations of human experts at the service operator
. The method of claim 9 , wherein a digital rights license for content is delivered to said device prior to deliver content to said device.
. The method of claim 9 , wherein said user operated device is operated wirelessly.
. The method of claim 9 , wherein the communication pathway is created after the identity of the user is authenticated.
. The method of claim 9 , wherein said modification is accomplished through recommendation technologies.
. A method for delivering cataloging data to a user operated device comprising
delivering a list of content from a first user operated device to a media storage means, establishing a communication pathway from said media storage means to a second user operated device, and delivering said content to said second user operated device.
. The method of claim 20 , wherein the user is authenticated prior to delivery to said second user operated device.
. The method of claim 20 , wherein said delivery is provided through streaming.
. The method of claim 20 , wherein said modification is accomplished through statistical means.
. The method of claim 20 , wherein said delivery is accomplished at user-specified periodicity.
. The method of claim 20 , wherein said delivery is accomplished at regular intervals.
. The method of claim 20 , wherein a digital rights license for content is delivered to said device prior to delivery of content to said device.
. The system of claim 20 , wherein said user operated device is operated wirelessly.
. The method of claim 20 , wherein identity of the user is authenticated prior to the delivery of said content to said second user operated device.
. The method of claim 20 , wherein said media storage is a user's personal computer or similar storage device.
. The method of claim 20 , wherein said first device uploads a listing of content and content to the media storage at the request of a user or automatically.
. The method of claim 20 , wherein said media storage encrypts the content with DRM and provides a license to decrypt the DRM only to authorized users.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
