Abstract

A natural stone basin is supported by drilling one or more cavities and inserting legs into the cavities. The legs support the weight of the basin and give the basin a unique aesthetic appearance. The legs stabilize the natural stone basin when positioned at a selected angle, so the basin can serve as a sink or fire pit, or the basin can also be tilted as part of a cascade fountain.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A natural stone basin manufactured from a natural stone, said natural stone basin comprising:
a natural stone having a portioned machined therefrom to form a basin, one or more cavities bored to a selected depth in said natural stone; and one or more legs, each of said one or more legs comprising
a support member having a first end bonded in one of said one or more cavities and a second end extending a selected length outside said one or more cavities, and
a sleeve attached to said second end of said support member, said sleeve having a first end machined to abut said natural stone basin, and a second end machined to abut a selected surface.

2 . The natural stone basin of claim 1 , wherein each of said one or more legs further comprises an endcap joined to said second end of said support member and wherein said second end of said sleeve is machined to abut said endcap.

3 . The natural stone basin of claim 1 , wherein said sleeve is welded to said support member.

4 . The natural stone basin of claim 1 , further comprising a drain in the bottom portion of the basin.

5 . The natural stone basin of claim 1 , wherein at least one of said one or more cavities is bored in the underside of said natural stone basin.

6 . The natural stone basin of claim 1 , further comprising one or more holes for electric devices.

7 . The natural stone basin of claim 1 , further comprising one or more holes to accommodate plumbing.

8 . The natural stone basin of claim 1 , further comprising one or more holes adapted to store objects.

9 . A method for manufacturing a natural stone basin from a natural stone, comprising the steps of:
machining a portion of said natural stone to form a basin in said natural stone; boring one or more cavities in said natural stone; bonding a first end of a support member in each of said one or more cavities, wherein a second end of said support member extends a selected length from said one or more cavities; attaching a sleeve to one or more of said one or more support members, said sleeve adapted to abut said natural stone; and attaching an endcap to said second end of said support member, wherein said second end of said support member is adapted to receive said endcap and said second end of said sleeve is adapted to abut said endcap.

10 . The method of manufacturing a natural stone basin from a natural stone of claim 9 , further comprising the step of bending one or more of said one or more support rods to have a selected radius of curvature.

11 . The method of manufacturing a natural stone basin from a natural stone of claim 9 , further comprising the step of bending one or more of said one or more support rods to a selected angle.

12 . The method of manufacturing a natural stone basin from a natural stone of claim 9 , further comprising the step of boring a drainhole in the basin portion of said natural stone.
