Claims

Abstract

A corner gauge for use in the construction of corners comprises a corner moulding ( 1 ), an extension arm ( 2 ) and a spirit level ( 3 ). The corner moulding ( 1 ) provides a predetermined internal angle a at an apex ( 6 ) and means for attachment to the extension arm ( 2 ) and the spirit level ( 3 ) to provide a corner gauge. Various mouldings providing different angles can be used to construct a corner with a particular angle. The spirit level ( 3 ), may be integrated into the moulding ( 1 ) for convenience and further spirit levels may be attachable thereto for increased accuracy. The extension arm ( 2 ), may also be substituted for a spirit level. A kit can be provides with a series of mouldings ( 1 ) with different predetermined angles, plus a spirit level ( 3 ) and extension arm ( 2 ).

1 . A corner gauge for use in the construction of corners comprising a moulding having a first and a second shoulder portion joined at an apex to define a predetermined angle, the first shoulder portion extending into an integrated arm, wherein the arm comprises a spirit level. 
   
   
       2 . A corner gauge according to  claim 1 , wherein the integrated arm is adapted for attachment to a second spirit level. 
   
   
       3 . A corner gauge according to  claim 2 , wherein the integrated arm comprises a connector arm. 
   
   
       4 . A corner gauge according to  claim 3 , wherein the second spirit level comprises an aperture to receive said connector arm. 
   
   
       5 . A corner gauge according to any preceding claim, wherein the second shoulder portion is adapted for attachment to an extension arm. 
   
   
       6 . A corner gauge according to  claim 4 , wherein the extension arm is a hollow box section which slidably fits onto a connector arm on said shoulder portion. 
   
   
       7 . A corner gauge according to  claim 6 , wherein the extension arm is substituted for a third spirit level. 
   
   
       8 . A corner gauge according to  claim 1 , wherein the predetermined angles are 45°, 90°, 135° or any other suitable angle used in the construction of corners. 
   
   
       9 . A corner gauge according to  claim 1 , wherein the predetermined angle is an internal angle provided at the apex. 
   
   
       10 . A corner gauge according to  claim 9 , wherein the mouldings are constructed so as to provide a second external angle opposite to said internal angle, the gauge therefore being capable of use for the construction of both internal and external corners. 
   
   
       11 . A corner gauge according to  claim 2 , wherein the second spirit level is releasably attachable to said integrated arm. 
   
   
       12 . A corner gauge according to  claim 2 , wherein the extension arm is releasably attachable to said second shoulder portion. 
   
   
       13 . A corner gauge according to  claim 11 , wherein the releasable attachment is a push fit, push button, clip or screw fitting to retain said extension arm. 
   
   
       14 . A corner gauge according to  claim 1 , wherein the spirit level comprises at least one level indicator. 
   
   
       15 . A corner gauge according to  claim 9 , wherein the spirit level comprises a plurality of level indicators located along said integrated arm. 
   
   
       16 . A corner gauge according to  claim 1 , wherein the moulding and/or extension arm is constructed of plastics, aluminum aluminium or any other suitable material. 
   
   
       17 . A kit of parts for a corner gauge for use in the construction of corners comprising:
 a series of mouldings each having a first and a second shoulder portion joined at an apex to define a predetermined angle, the first shoulder portion being adapted for attachment to a spirit level and the second shoulder portion being adapted for attachment to an extension arm;   a spirit level; and   an extension arm;   wherein each of the predetermined angles of the mouldings provides a different angle.   
   
   
       18 . A kit according to  claim 17 , wherein the predetermined angles are 45°, 90°, 135° or any other suitable angle used in the construction of corner. 
   
   
       19 . A kit according to  claim 17 , wherein the extension arm may be substituted for a spirit level. 
   
   
       20 . A kit according to  claim 17 , wherein the extension arm and/or the spirit levels may slidably fit onto said shoulder portions of said mouldings. 
   
   
       21 . A kit according to  claim 17 , wherein the kit may further comprise releasable attachments such as a push button, clip or screw fitting to retain said extension arm and/or said spirit levels. 
   
   
       22 . A corner gauge according to  claim 17 , wherein a plug is provided to accommodate attachment of different sizes of standard spirit levels for attachment thereto. 
   
   
       23 . A kit according to  claim 17 , wherein the kit further provides at least one plug for attachment to said mouldings to accommodate different sizes of standard spirit levels for attachment thereto. 
   
   
       24 . A series of angled mouldings at least one of which has a predetermined inclined angle other than 90°, each moulding including an end adapted for attachment to a corresponding end of a spirit level, the spirit level being of box section, each of the angled mouldings being used as an angled gauge in the construction of walls.
