Occupant-interactive accessory system for automotive vehicle interior

Abstract

An occupant-interactive accessory system for an automotive vehicle interior includes a number of different utilities for use by an occupant of the passenger compartment of the vehicle. The combination of a wedging mounting structure attached to each utility and wedging interfaces incorporated within interior structures of the vehicle allow the utilities to be mounted or dismounted manually, without the use of tools.

1 . An occupant-interactive accessory system for an automotive vehicle interior, comprising:
 a utility for use by an occupant of a passenger compartment of a vehicle; and   a wedging mounting structure attached to said utility for removably mounting said utility to a wedging interface incorporated within an interior structure of a vehicle.   
   
   
       2 . An occupant-interactive accessory system according to  claim 1 , wherein said wedging mounting structure is manually attachable to said wedging interface. 
   
   
       3 . An occupant-interactive accessory device according to  claim 1 , wherein said wedging mounting structure comprises a first portion of a dovetail joint and said wedging interface comprises a second portion of a dovetail joint. 
   
   
       4 . An occupant-interactive accessory system according to  claim 1 , wherein said utility comprises a holder for a personal electronic device. 
   
   
       5 . An occupant-interactive accessory system according to  claim 1 , wherein said utility comprises a writing surface. 
   
   
       6 . An occupant-interactive accessory system according to  claim 1 , wherein said utility comprises a holder for a portable DVD player. 
   
   
       7 . An occupant-interactive accessory system according to  claim 1 , wherein said utility comprises a holder for a laptop computer. 
   
   
       8 . An occupant-interactive accessory system according to  claim 1 , wherein said utility comprises a food serving tray. 
   
   
       9 . An occupant-interactive accessory system according to  claim 1 , wherein said utility comprises a cup holder. 
   
   
       10 . An occupant-interactive accessory system according to  claim 1 , wherein said utility comprises a holder for an electronic device. 
   
   
       11 . An occupant-interactive accessory system according to  claim 1 , wherein said utility comprises a document file holder. 
   
   
       12 . An occupant-interactive accessory system according to  claim 1 , wherein said utility comprises a depending hook. 
   
   
       13 . An occupant-interactive accessory system according to  claim 1 , wherein said utility comprises a holder for a cellular telephone. 
   
   
       14 . An occupant-interactive accessory device for an automotive vehicle, comprising:
 a utility for use by an occupant of a passenger compartment of a vehicle; and   a dovetail mounting structure attached to said utility for manually and removably mounting said utility to a mating dovetail mounting structure incorporated within an interior structure of a vehicle.   
   
   
       15 . An accessory system structure for the interior of an automotive vehicle, comprising:
 a trim component having at least one surface accessible to an occupant of a vehicle; and   at least one wedging receptacle integrated within said surface of said trim component, whereby an occupant-interactive accessory device may be removably mounted to said trim structure.   
   
   
       16 . An accessory system structure according to  claim 15 , wherein said trim component comprises a storage console. 
   
   
       17 . An interior trim structure for an automotive vehicle, comprising:
 a trim component having at least one surface accessible to an occupant of a vehicle; and   at least one wedging receptacle integrated within said surface, whereby an occupant-interactive accessory device may be manually mounted and removed from said trim structure.   
   
   
       18 . An interior trim structure according to  claim 17 , further comprising at least one occupant-interactive accessory engaged with said at least one wedging receptacle. 
   
   
       19 . An interior trim structure according to  claim 17 , wherein said wedging receptacle comprises a first portion of a dovetail joint.
