Claims

Abstract

A mobile paint rack having a base and an upright mounted on the base, the upright receiving at least a pair of clamp arms releasably received by a pair of support carriages, each carriage for releasably receiving a clamp arm at a distal end thereof, one at each end of each carriage. A clamp is mounted on each clamp arm to a swivel ball, the swivel ball in turn is mounted to the proximal end of each clamp arm. The clamp on the clamp arm may be positioned in an extremely wide variety of positions on the end of the clamp arm. Once the clamp is positioned in a desired manner, it is screw locked into place. Additionally, the clamp arms themselves may be adjusted such that where two clamps are needed to securely position an article for spray painting, two clamp arms may be positioned as close as 1 inch together and as far apart as 36 inches. Also, the clamp arms themselves may be adjusted such that where more than two clamps are needed to securely position an article for spray painting, the additional clamp arms may be positioned adjacent each other by adjusting the position of or even adding a support carriage.

       18 . A swivel positioning assembly comprising:
 an arm;   a swivel ball coupled to the arm by a swivel ball stem;   a socket receiver apparatus comprising:
 a socket receiver body defining a spherical cavity to receive the swivel ball, wherein a slot is defined in the socket receiver body to allow the swivel ball stem to move therein, wherein the socket receiver body further defines a tightening aperture and a threaded fastener opening, wherein the threaded fastener opening is located opposite the tightening aperture; and 
 a holding apparatus coupled to the socket receiver body to hold an object; and 
   a fastener apparatus comprising a positioning knob having a threaded screw fastener extending therefrom configured to be received by the threaded fastener opening for use in applying torque to releasably fasten the holding apparatus in a desired position.   
   
   
       19 . The swivel positioning assembly according to  claim 18 , wherein the tightening aperture is circular. 
   
   
       20 . The swivel positioning assembly according to  claim 18 , wherein the holding apparatus comprises a clamp. 
   
   
       21 . The swivel positioning assembly according to  claim 20 , wherein the clamp comprises a clamp pin to aid in holding the object. 
   
   
       22 . The swivel positioning assembly according to  claim 18 , wherein the slot has a width and a length that allows the swivel ball stem to move along the length. 
   
   
       23 . The swivel positioning assembly according to  claim 18 , wherein the threaded fastener opening is defined by a stem extending from the socket receiver body. 
   
   
       24 . A swivel positioning assembly comprising:
 a swivel ball apparatus comprising a swivel ball and a swivel ball stem extending from the swivel ball;   a socket receiver apparatus comprising:
 a socket receiver body defining a cavity to receive the swivel ball, wherein a slot is defined in the socket receiver body to allow the swivel ball stem to move therein, wherein the socket receiver body further defines a tightening aperture and a threaded fastener opening, wherein the threaded fastener opening is located opposite the tightening aperture; and 
   a holding apparatus coupled to the socket receiver body to hold an object; and   a fastener apparatus comprising a positioning knob having a threaded screw fastener extending therefrom configured to be received by the threaded fastener opening for use in applying torque to releasably fasten the holding apparatus in a desired position.   
   
   
       25 . The swivel positioning assembly according to  claim 24 , wherein the tightening aperture is circular.
