Abstract

Method and apparatus for providing link quality feedback to a transmitter In one embodiment, the link quality of a received signal is measured and a quality message is generated during a quality message period, the quality message representative of a link quality at a first period, and one or more differential indicators are generated during the quality message period, the differential indicators representative of a change in link quality following the first period.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A remote station apparatus comprising:
a quality measurement unit configured to measuring link quality of a received signal; a differential analyzer connected to the quality measurement unit and configured to generate a quality message during a quality message period, the quality message representative of a link quality at a first period, the differential analyzer further configure to generate one or more differential indicators during the quality message period, the differential indicators representative of a change in link quality following the first period.

2 . The remote station apparatus of claim 1 , further comprises an encoding unit configured to apply a cover corresponding to a base station identification associated with the measured link to generate the quality message.

3 . The remote station apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the base station identity corresponds to a sector identification of the base station.

4 . The remote station apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the quality message includes carrier to interference information of the received signal.

5 . The remote station apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein each differential indicator is at least one bit.

6 . The remote station apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein each differential indicator comprises a plurality of bits.

7 . A method for providing link quality feedback comprising:
measuring link quality of a received signal; generating a quality message during a quality message period, the quality message representative of a link quality at a first period; generating one or more differential indicators during the quality message period, the differential indicators representative of a change in link quality following the first period.

8 . The method of claim 7 , further comprising applying a cover corresponding to a sector associated with the measured link to generate the quality message.

9 . The method according to claim 7 , wherein the quality message includes carrier to interference information of the received signal.

10 . The method according to claim 7 , wherein each differential indicator is at least one bit.

11 . The method according to claim 7 , wherein each differential indicator comprises a plurality of bits.

       12 . A remote station apparatus comprising:
means for measuring link quality of a received signal; means for generating a quality message during a quality message period, the quality message representative of a link quality at a first period, means for generating one or more differential indicators during the quality message period, the differential indicators representative of a change in link quality following the first period.

13 . The remote station apparatus of claim 12 , wherein the remote station apparatus applies a cover corresponding to a sector associated with the measured link to generate the quality message.

14 . The remote station apparatus of claim 12 , wherein the quality message includes carrier to interference information of the received signal.

15 . The remote station apparatus of claim 12 , wherein each differential indicator is at least one bit.

16 . The remote station apparatus of claim 12 , wherein each differential indicator comprises a plurality of bits.

       17 . A computer-readable medium comprising:
code for causing a computer to measure link quality of a received signal code for causing the computer to generate a quality message during a quality message period, the quality message representative of a link quality at a first period; code for causing the computer to generate one or more differential indicators during the quality message period, the differential indicators representative of a change in link quality following the first period.

18 . The computer-readable medium of claim 17 , further comprising code for causing the computer to apply a cover corresponding to a sector associated with the measured link to generate the quality message.
