Antibodies to novel lipoxygenase proteins

Abstract

The nucleotide and corresponding amino acid sequences are reported for a novel class of mammalian lipoxygenase proteins. The novel lipoxygenase encoding polynucleotides were obtained from human gene trap clones and human cDNA libraries.

         7 . An isolated antibody or epitope-binding fragment thereof that specifically binds a polypeptide encoded by a first polynucleotide capable of hybridizing to a second polynucleotide in 0.5 M NaHPO 4 , 7% sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), 1 mM EDTA at 65° C. with washing in 0.1×SSC/0.1% SDS at 68° C., wherein the second polynucleotide is complementary to the entire nucleic acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1, and wherein the polypeptide has lipoxygenase activity. 
     
     
         8 . The isolated antibody or epitope-binding fragment thereof of  claim 7 , wherein the antibody or epitope-binding fragment thereof specifically binds a polypeptide having the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 2. 
     
     
         9 . The isolated antibody of  claim 7 , wherein the antibody or epitope-binding fragment thereof is a monoclonal antibody or epitope-binding fragment thereof. 
     
     
         10 . The isolated antibody or epitope-binding fragment thereof of  claim 7 , wherein the antibody or epitope-binding fragment thereof is a humanized antibody or epitope-binding fragment thereof. 
     
     
         11 . The isolated antibody or epitope-binding fragment thereof of  claim 7 , wherein the antibody or epitope-binding fragment thereof is a chimeric antibody or epitope-binding fragment thereof. 
     
     
         12 . The isolated antibody or epitope-binding fragment thereof of  claim 7 , wherein the antibody or epitope-binding fragment thereof is an antibody fragment selected from a Fab fragment and a F(ab′) 2  fragment. 
     
     
         13 . The isolated antibody or epitope-binding fragment thereof of  claim 7 , wherein the antibody or epitope-binding fragment thereof is a single-chain antibody. 
     
     
         14 . The isolated antibody or epitope-binding fragment thereof of  claim 7 , wherein the antibody or epitope-binding fragment thereof further comprises a detectable label.
