Abstract
A billiard ball includes a generally incompressible body. The body has an ellipsoidal or ovoidal shape with a generally smooth outer surface lacking a concave portion.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A billiard ball comprising:
a generally incompressible body having an ellipsoidal or ovoidal shape with a generally smooth outer surface lacking a concave portion.
2 . The billiard ball of claim 1 , wherein the surface lacks a depression or a protuberance.
3 . The billiard ball of claim 1 , wherein the surface lacks corners, edges, flats, or ridges.
4 . The billiard ball of claim 1 , having a weight in a range between 5 ounces and 8 ounces.
5 . The billiard ball of claim 1 , having a first diameter along a first direction and a second diameter along a second direction substantially perpendicular to the first direction, the first diameter larger than the second diameter.
6 . The billiard ball of claim 5 , wherein the first diameter is in a range between 2 inches and 3 inches, and the second diameter is in a range between 1.5 inches and 2.5 inches.
7 . The billiard ball of claim 5 , wherein at least one of the first diameter and the second diameter equals 2.25 inches and the weight is in a range between 5.5 ounces and 6 ounces.
8 . The billiard ball of claim 1 , wherein the body is unitary.
9 . The billiard ball of claim 1 , wherein the body comprises resin.
10 . The billiard ball of claim 1 , wherein the body comprises polyester.
11 . The billiard ball of claim 1 , wherein the shape is ellipsoidal.
12 . The billiard ball of claim 11 , wherein the shape is an oblate spheroid.
13 . The billiard ball of claim 11 , wherein the shape is a prolate spheroid.
14 . The billiard ball of claim 1 , wherein the shape is ovoidal.
15 . The billiard ball of claim 14 , wherein the ovoidal shape is generally egg-shaped.
16 . The billiard ball of claim 14 , wherein the ovoidal shape has an axis of rotational symmetry, a substantially circular cross-section in a plane perpendicular to the axis of rotational symmetry, and an oval cross-section in a plane along the axis of rotational symmetry.
17 . The billiard ball of claim 16 , wherein the oval cross-section is a Cartesian oval.
18 . The billiard ball of claim 16 , wherein the oval cross-section is a Cassini oval.
19 . A billiard ball comprising a generally incompressible body having an ellipsoidal or ovoidal shape with a generally smooth outer surface lacking a concave portion, the body having a weight between about 5 ounces and about 8 ounces, the body having a first diameter along a first direction and a second diameter along a second direction substantially perpendicular to the first direction, the first diameter larger than the second diameter, wherein at least one of the first diameter and the second diameter is in a range between 2 inches and 2.5 inches.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
