Abstract

Composition preferably useful for coating the eyelashes containing an aqueous phase and an emulsifying system having at least one lactic acid compound and/or one of its salts or at least one citric acid compound and/or one of its salts as the main surfactant system of the composition. Methods of use.

1 . A composition comprising:
 an aqueous phase,   at least 5% of at least one wax with respect to the total weight of the composition, and   an emulsifying system,   
       wherein the emulsifying system comprises at least one lactic acid compound and/or one of its salts and/or at least one citric acid compound and/or one of its salts, and wherein said at least one lactic acid compound and/or one of its salts and/or at least one citric acid compound and/or one of its salts represents the main surfactant system of the composition. 
     
     
         2 . The composition according to  claim 1 , said composition comprising less than 1% of triethanolamine. 
     
     
         3 . The composition according to  claim 1 , comprising at least one lactic acid compound or its salt chosen from acyllactylic acid compounds, their salts (lactylates) and their mixtures. 
     
     
         4 . The composition according to  claim 1 , comprising at least one lactic acid compound or its salt chosen from the compounds of following formula: 
       
         
           
           
               
               
           
         
       
       in which R represents an acyl group O═CR′, R′ being a saturated or unsaturated, linear or branched, hydrocarbon chain comprising from 10 to 30 carbon atoms, and
 X represents a cation chosen from the ions of alkali metals, the ions of alkaline earth metals, ammonium groups and their mixtures. 
 
     
     
         5 . The composition according to  claim 4 , wherein R′ comprises from 12 to 22 carbon atoms. 
     
     
         6 . The composition according to  claim 4 , wherein the acyl group is chosen from the lauroyl, myristoyl, behenoyl, palmitoyl, stearoyl, isostearoyl, olivoyl, cocoyl or oleoyl groups and their mixtures. 
     
     
         7 . The composition according to  claim 1 , comprising at least one lactic acid compound or its salt chosen from calcium stearoyl lactylate; sodium stearoyl lactylate; sodium isostearoyl lactylate; sodium behenoyl lactylate; sodium cocoyl lactylate; sodium oleoyl lactylate; and their mixtures. 
     
     
         8 . The composition according to  claim 1 , comprising sodium stearoyl lactylate. 
     
     
         9 . The composition according to  claim 1 , comprising at least one citric acid compound or its salt chosen from citric acid compounds comprising at least one saturated or unsaturated, linear or branched, fatty hydrocarbon chain comprising from 10 to 30 carbon atoms and the alkali metal, alkaline earth metal and ammonium salts of the acids. 
     
     
         10 . The composition according to  claim 9 , wherein the hydrocarbon chain of the citric acid compound comprises from 12 to 24 carbon atoms. 
     
     
         11 . The composition according to  claim 1 , comprising at least one citric acid compound chosen from the esters resulting from the reaction of citric acid and of an ester of glycerol and of fatty acid, the fatty acid comprising from 12 to 30 carbon atoms. 
     
     
         12 . The composition according to  claim 11 , wherein the glycerol ester is a monoester. 
     
     
         13 . The composition according to  claim 11 , wherein the fatty acid comprising from 12 to 30 carbon atoms is stearic acid. 
     
     
         14 . The composition according to  claim 1 , comprising glyceryl stearate citrate. 
     
     
         15 . The composition according to  claim 9 , wherein the citric acid compounds or their salts are present in a content ranging from 0.1 to 20% by weight with respect to the total weight of the composition. 
     
     
         16 . The composition according to  claim 1 , wherein the lactic acid compounds and their salts are present in a content ranging from 1 to 20% by weight with respect to the total weight of the composition. 
     
     
         17 . The composition according to  claim 1 , wherein the lactic acid compounds or their salts and/or the citric acid compounds or their salts constitute the sole surfactant system of the composition. 
     
     
         18 . The composition according to  claim 2 , wherein it is devoid of triethanolamine stearate. 
     
     
         19 . The composition according to  claim 1 , wherein the wax is present in a content of at least 10% by weight with respect to the total weight of the composition. 
     
     
         20 . The composition according to  claim 1 , wherein it further comprises at least one hydrophilic or lipophilic film-forming polymer and/or at least one hydrophilic gelling agent. 
     
     
         21 . A method for making up or for the nontherapeutic care of the eyelashes, comprising the application, to the eyelashes, of the composition according to  claim 1 .
