Abstract

A modular kayak including several main parts which are designed and manufactured so that their external form grants the modular kayak superior kayaking performance and enables their assembly into a single compact package, which can fit into the trunk of a regular family car and be easily carried by hand, over the shoulder, or on the back.

1 . A modular kayak having at least two possible configurations, one a unified carrying and storage compact package configuration, and the other a unified kayaking configuration, comprising:
 (a) a bow section having a hull surface and a deck surface;   (b) a center section having a hull surface and a deck surface, wherein said center section defines a three-dimensional XYZ Cartesian coordinate system, wherein X axis goes forward, Z axis goes upward, and Y axis goes to the right of said center section, with each axis perpendicular to the plane created by the other two axes; and   (c) a stem section having a hull surface and a deck surface.   
   
   
       2 . The modular kayak of  claim 1 , wherein said bow section has a partition surface, said center section has a first partition surface, and a second partition surface, and said stem section has a partition surface. 
   
   
       3 . The modular kayak of  claim 2 , wherein when said modular kayak is in unified kayaking configuration, said bow section hull surface, said center section hull surface, and said stem section hull surface define a continuous spatial geometrical surface, as in a conventional kayak, which is suitable for granting said modular kayak with superior kayaking performance. 
   
   
       4 . The modular kayak of  claim 2 , wherein each of said stem section, said center section, and said bow section, is waterproof and buoyant. 
   
   
       5 . The modular kayak of  claim 2 , wherein said center section first partition surface has 3D partition's conformal surface, wherein said center section second partition surface has 3D partition's conformal surface, wherein said bow section partition surface has 3D partition's conformal surface, and, wherein said stem section partition surface has 3D partition's conformal surface. 
   
   
       6 . The modular kayak of  claim 2 , wherein the bow section has a maximum length dimension of no more that one meter, wherein the center section has a maximum length dimension of no more than one meter, and wherein the stem section has a maximum length dimension of no more than one meter. 
   
   
       7 . The modular kayak of  claim 2  wherein when said modular kayak is in unified kayaking configuration, said bow section hull surface, said center section hull surface, and said stem section hull surface define a continuous spatial geometrical surface, as in a conventional kayak, which is suitable for granting said modular kayak with superior kayaking performance, wherein each of said stem section, said center section, and said bow section, is waterproof and buoyant, wherein said center section first partition surface has 3D partition's conformal surface, wherein said center section second partition surface has 3D partition's conformal surface, wherein said bow section partition surface has 3D partition's conformal surface, and, wherein said stem section partition surface has 3D partition's conformal surface, wherein the bow section has a maximum length dimension of no more that one meter, wherein the center section has a maximum length dimension of no more than one meter, and wherein the stem section has a maximum length dimension of no more than one meter. 
   
   
       8 . The modular kayak of  claim 2 , wherein said bow section's deck surface has a 3D deck conformant surface, wherein said center section deck surface has a 3D deck conformant surface, and wherein said stem surface has a 3D deck conformant surface.

The modular kayak of  claim 2 , wherein said bow section has a maximum height dimension and a maximum width dimension, wherein said center section has a maximum height dimension and a maximum width dimension, and wherein said stem section has a maximum height dimension and a maximum width dimension. 
   
   
       10 . The modular kayak of  claim 9 , wherein said modular kayak has a total maximum dimension, wherein said total maximum dimension is at most 0.9 multiplied by the sum (of said bow section maximum height dimension plus said center section maximum height dimension plus said stem section maximum height dimension). 
   
   
       11 . The modular kayak of  claim 9 , wherein said modular kayak has a total maximum dimension, wherein said total maximum dimension is at most 0.7 multiplied by the sum (of said bow section maximum height dimension plus said center section maximum height dimension plus said stern section maximum height dimension). 
   
   
       12 . The modular kayak of  claim 2  further comprising:
 (d) fastening device; and   (e) carrying straps.   
   
   
       13 . The modular kayak of  claim 7  further comprising:
 (d) fastening device; and   (e) carrying straps;   Wherein said bow section's deck surface has a 3D deck conformant surface, wherein said center section deck surface has a 3D deck conformant surface, and wherein said stern surface has a 3D deck conformant surface, wherein said bow section has a maximum height dimension and a maximum width dimension, wherein said center section has a maximum height dimension and a maximum width dimension, and wherein said stern section has a maximum height dimension and a maximum width dimension, and wherein said modular kayak has a total maximum dimension, wherein said total maximum dimension is at most 0.9 multiplied by the sum (of said bow section maximum height dimension plus said center section maximum height dimension plus said stern section maximum height dimension).   
   
   
       14 . A method for enabling a kayaker to use a modular kayak, the method comprising the steps of:
 (a) providing the kayaker with a modular kayak, said modular kayak including:   (i) a bow section having a hull surface, a deck surface, and a partition surface;   (ii) a center section having a hull surface, a deck surface, a first partition surface, and a second partition surface, wherein said center section defines a three-dimensional XYZ Cartesian coordinate system, wherein X axis goes forward, Z axis goes upward, and Y axis goes to the right of said center section, with each axis perpendicular to the plane created by the other two axes;   (iii) a stern section having a hull surface, a deck surface, and a partition surface;   (iv) fastening device; and   (v) carrying straps;   Wherein when said modular kayak is in unified kayaking configuration, said bow section hull surface, said center section hull surface, and said stem section hull surface define a continuous spatial geometrical surface, as in a conventional kayak, which is suitable for granting said modular kayak with superior kayaking performance, wherein said center section first partition surface has 3D partition's conformal surface, wherein said center section second partition surface has 3D partition's conformal surface, wherein said bow section partition surface has 3D partition's conformal surface, and, wherein said stem section partition surface has 3D partition's conformal surface, wherein said bow section has a maximum height dimension and a maximum width dimension, wherein said center section has a maximum height dimension and a maximum width dimension, and wherein said stem section has a maximum height dimension and a maximum width dimension, and wherein said modular kayak has a total maximum dimension, wherein said total maximum dimension is at most 0.9 multiplied by the sum (of said bow section maximum height dimension plus said center section maximum height dimension plus said stem section maximum height dimension);   (b) packing said bow section, said center section, and said stem section;   (iv) fastening said modular kayak with said fastening device; and   (v) putting said modular kayak into a car.   
   
   
       15 . The method of  claim 14 , further comprising the steps of:
 (vi) removing said modular kayak from said car;   (vii) carrying said modular kayak on the back;   (viii) unfastening said fastening device;   (viii) connecting said stem section to said center section; and   (ix) connecting said bow section to said center section.   
   
   
       16 . The method of  claim 14 , further comprising the steps of:
 (x) putting said modular kayak on the water; and   (xi) kayaking.   
   
   
       17 . The method of  claim 14 , wherein the packing includes:
 (i) placing said center section on the ground, with said center section's hull portion facing down;   (ii) placing said bow section upon said center section, with said bow section's hull portion facing up; and   (iii) placing said stern section upon said bow section, with said stern section's hull portion facing up.   
   
   
       18 . The method of  claim 14 , wherein the packing includes:
 (i) placing said stem section on the ground, with said stem section's hull portion facing up;   (ii) placing said bow section upon said stem section, with said bow section's hull portion facing up; and   (iii) placing said center section upon said bow section, with said center section's hull portion facing down.
