Lavatory system
Abstract
A lavatory system configured to provide hand washing access to a user and an enclosure system for use with such a lavatory system are disclosed. The lavatory system includes a deck providing a first and second station. The enclosure system includes a first and second cover for inhibiting access to plumbing between the first and second stations. The first and second covers include first and second portions that are removable. The first cover is mounted at the first station and the second cover is mounted at the second station. The first portion is removed on the first cover to provide a first recess and the second portion is removed on the second cover to provide a second recess so that the first and second recesses can receive the plumbing. The first and second covers each have a front wall with a contour that allows for increased space beneath the deck.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A lavatory system configured to provide hand washing access to a user comprising:
a deck providing a first station and a second station, the first station having a first basin and the second station having a second basin, the first basin and the second basin each having a front wall that at least partially defines a sink area of the basin; plumbing in communication with the first station and the second station; and a first cover and a second cover inhibiting access to at least a portion of the plumbing, the first cover and the second cover each having a front wall, a first sidewall and a second sidewall, the front wall having a contour that at least partially projects inward toward the front wall of the basin, the first sidewall having a first portion that is removable, the second sidewall having a second portion that is removable; wherein the first cover is mounted at the first station and the second cover is mounted at the second station; wherein the first portion is removed on the first cover to provide a first recess and the second portion is removed on the second cover to provide a second recess so that the first recess and the second recess are configured to receive a portion of the plumbing.
2 . The system of claim 1 wherein the front wall of the first basin and the second basin each has a contour that projects inward toward the sink area.
3 . The system of claim 1 wherein the front wall of the first basin and the second basin each are each at least partially convex.
4 . The system of claim 1 wherein the contour of the front wall of the first cover substantially conforms to the contour of the front wall of the first basin and the contour of the front wall of the second cover substantially covers to the contour of the front wall of the second basin.
5 . The system of claim 1 wherein the first cover and the second cover provide a space beneath the deck that complies with accessibility guidelines.
6 . The system of claim 5 wherein the space beneath the deck has a deck clearance height of at least 29 inches.
7 . The system of claim 5 wherein the space beneath the deck has a knee clearance height of at least 27 inches and a knee clearance depth of at least 8 inches.
8 . The system of claim 1 wherein the first portion is defined by a first groove and the second portion is defined by a second groove.
9 . The system of claim 1 wherein the first cover is substantially identical to the second cover before the first portion or the second portion is removed.
10 . The system of claim 1 further comprising a third station having a third basin and a third cover mounted at the third station, the third cover having a front wall, a first sidewall and a second sidewall, the front wall having a contour that at least partially projects inward toward the third basin, the first sidewall having a first portion that is removable, the second sidewall having a second portion that is removable.
11 . An enclosure system for a lavatory system including plumbing and a deck providing a first station and a second station, the first station and the second station each having a basin, the system comprising:
a first cover configured to inhibit access to at least a portion of the plumbing and having a front wall, a first sidewall and a second sidewall, the front wall having a contour that is configured to at least partially project inward toward the basin of the first station, the first sidewall having a first portion that is selectively removable, the second sidewall having a second portion that is selectively removable; and a second cover configured to inhibit access to at least a portion of the plumbing and having a front wall, a first sidewall and a second sidewall, the front wall having a contour that is configured to at least partially project inward toward the basin of the first station, the first sidewall having a first portion that is selectively removable, the second sidewall having a second portion that is selectively removable; wherein the first portion of the first cover is removed to provide a first recess to receive a portion of the plumbing and the second portion of the second cover is removed to provide a second recess to receive a portion of the plumbing.
12 . The system of claim 11 wherein the contours of the front walls of the first cover and the second cover substantially conform to a contour of the basin.
13 . The system of claim 11 wherein the contours of the front walls of the first cover and the second cover each include a concave portion that provides increased space beneath the deck for a user.
14 . The system of claim 11 wherein the first cover and the second cover are configured to provide a space beneath the deck that complies with accessibility guidelines.
15 . The system of claim 14 wherein the first cover and the second cover are configured to provide a space beneath the deck that has a knee clearance height of at least 27 inches and a knee clearance depth of at least 8 inches.
16 . The system of claim 14 wherein the first cover and the second cover are substantially identical prior to the first portion and/or the second portion is removed.
17 . The system of claim 11 wherein the first portion and the second portion are defined by grooves.
18 . The system of claim 11 further comprising a third cover configured to inhibit access to the plumbing extending between the first recess of the first cover and the second recess of the second cover.
19 . A lavatory system configured to provide hand washing access to a user comprising:
a deck providing a first station having a basin, the basin having a front wall that at least partially defines a sink area of the basin, the front wall of the basin having a contour that projects inward toward the sink area; plumbing associated with the first station; and a first cover inhibiting access to at least a portion of the plumbing, the first cover having a front wall having a contour that at least partially projects inward toward the front wall of the basin.
20 . The system of claim 19 wherein the contour of the front wall of the first cover substantially conforms to the contour of the front wall of the basin.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
