Data transmission apparatus and data transmission method

Abstract

The present invention is related to a data transmission apparatus and a data transmission method for properly managing the contents of data and reproducing information recorded to a recording medium. A recording medium of the copy source records a Clip (Clip Information file and Clip AV stream file) and a PlayList. The PlayList and Clip files are transferred from the copy source to the copy destination via an IEEE 1394 digital bus to be copied to the copy destination. The arrival time stamp of the TP_extra_header of each source packet of the copied Clip AV stream file is the same as that of the copy source and the Clip Information file and the PlayList file corresponding to the copied Clip AV stream file are also copied to the copy destination. The present invention is applicable to recording apparatuses or reproducing apparatuses which process AV stream files, for example.

1 . A data transmission apparatus for transmitting an AV stream, comprising:
 an authentication section operable to mutually authenticate an apparatus of a transmission destination of said AV stream; and   a transmission section operable to transmit said AV stream and management information thereof if said apparatus of said transmission destination is found compliant with a predetermined format from a result of said mutual-authentication by said authentication section and transmitting only said AV stream in real time if said apparatus of said transmission destination is found not compliant with said predetermined format from a result of said mutual-authentication by said authentication section.   
   
   
       2 . A data transmission method for transmitting an AV stream comprising the steps of:
 mutually authenticating an apparatus of a transmission destination of said AV stream; and   transmitting said AV stream and management information thereof if said apparatus of said transmission destination is found compliant with a predetermined format from a result of said mutual-authentication by said authentication step and transmitting only said AV stream in real time if said apparatus of said transmission destination is found not compliant with said predetermined format from a result of said mutual-authentication by said authentication step.   
   
   
       3 . A recording medium recording a computer-readable program for a data transmission apparatus for transmitting an AV stream, comprising the steps of:
 mutually authenticating an apparatus of a transmission destination of said AV stream; and   transmitting said AV stream and management information thereof if said apparatus of said transmission destination is found compliant with a predetermined format from a result of said mutual-authentication by said authentication step and transmitting only said AV stream in real time if said apparatus of said transmission destination is found not compliant with said predetermined format from a result of said mutual-authentication by said authentication step.   
   
   
       4 . A program for causing a computer for controlling a data transmission apparatus for transmitting an AV stream, comprising the steps of:
 mutually authenticating an apparatus of a transmission destination of said AV stream; and   transmitting said AV stream and management information thereof if said apparatus of said transmission destination is found compliant with a predetermined format from a result of said mutual-authentication by said authentication step and transmitting only said AV stream in real time if said apparatus of said transmission destination is found not compliant with said predetermined format from a result of said mutual-authentication by said authentication step.
