Abstract
A method and solution for local inhibition of pain and inflammation by application of a serotonin antagonist, and serotonin antagonist compositions for local delivery.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A method of treating a non-inflammatory local disease of the musculo-skeletal system selected from the group consisting of: a disease treated by arthroscopic surgery, a disease affecting a human body cavity or passage, an operative wound, a traumatic wound and any disease treated with an operative/interventional procedure in which irrigation can be performed in a subject in need thereof, which method comprises locally administering to said subject an effective amount of a 5-HT 3 receptor antagonist.
2 . A method according to claim 1 , wherein the 5-HT 3 receptor antagonist is administered locally at or near the site of the local disease, local irritation condition or local manifestation.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the 5-HT 3 receptor antagonist is ondansetron.
4 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the 5-HT 3 receptor antagonist is ondansetron.
5 . The use of a 5-HT 3 receptor antagonist for the manufacture of a pharmaceutical composition for the treatment of local disease of the musculo-skeletal system selected from the group consisting of: a disease treated by arthroscopic surgery, a disease affecting a human body cavity or passage, an operative wound, a traumatic wound and any disease treated with an operative/interventional procedure in which irrigation can be performed.
6 . The use according to claim 5 , wherein the disease to be treated is a non-inflammatory local disease of the musculo-skeletal system selected from the group consisting of a disease treated by arthroscopic surgery, a disease affecting a human body cavity or passage, an operative wound, a traumatic wound, and any disease treated with an operative/interventional procedure in which irrigation can be performed.
7 . The use according to claim 5 , wherein the disease to be treated is a local disease of the musculo-skeletal system selected from the group consisting of a disease treated by arthroscopic surgery, a disease affecting a human body cavity or passage, an operative wound, a traumatic wound and any disease treated with an operative/interventional procedure in which irrigation can be performed.
8 . The use according to claim 5 , for the local treatment of a local manifestation at the locomotor apparatus of an inflammatory disease selected from the group consisting of a disease treated by arthroscopic surgery, a disease affecting a human body cavity or passage, an operative wound, a traumatic wound and any disease treated with an operative/interventional procedure in which irrigation can be performed.
9 . The use according to claim 5 , wherein the 5-HT 3 receptor antagonist is ondansetron.
10 . A method of treating a local disease of the musculo-skeletal system selected from the group consisting of a disease treated by arthroscopic surgery, a disease affecting a human body cavity or passage, an operative wound, a traumatic wound and any disease treated with an operative/interventional procedure in which irrigation can be performed, in a subject in need thereof, which method comprises locally administering to said subject an effective amount of 5-HT 3 receptor antagonist.
11 . A method according to claim 10 , wherein the 5-HT 3 receptor antagonist is administered locally at or near the site of the local disease, local irritation condition or local manifestation.
12 . A 5-HT 3 receptor antagonist or a pharmaceutical composition comprising a 5-HT 3 receptor antagonist for local use in the treatment of a local disease selected from the group consisting of a disease treated by arthroscopic surgery, a disease affecting a human body cavity or passage, an operative wound, a traumatic wound and any disease treated with an operative/interventional procedure in which irrigation can be performed.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
