         2 . (canceled)

3 . A stable liquid multi-analyte calibration solution for use in an immunoassay for measuring an amount of blood alcohol, total serum carbonate, and blood ammonia in a test sample, wherein said calibration solution comprises known amounts of sodium carbonate, ammonium bicarbonate, and ethyl alcohol, has a pH from 7.8 to 8.4, and remains stable for a period of at least three hundred (300) days when stored at a temperatures about 4° C.

4 . The calibration solution of claim 3 further comprising a preservative selected from the group consisting of an antibiotic isolated from strains of Bacillus polymyxa, sodium pyrithione and polyhexamethylene biguanide.
