Abstract
A mounting assembly mounts a ceiling mounted electrical box, to support a light or paddle fan fixture in a ceiling between studs of varying distance apart. The assembly includes an extended, pivotable bar attachable at opposite ends to adjacent spaced ceiling beam studs. A ceiling electrical box which supports a light and/or paddle fan fixture is mounted on the bar. Respective opposite end brackets are pivotally mounted on each end of the extended bar for attaching the bar to the spaced studs in the ceiling. The extended bar swivels and is pivoted with respect to each of the end brackets to accommodate variable spacing between the spaced studs. The electrical box is slidable along the bar to allow selective positioning of the box on the bar between the studs. The bar may be telescopic to allow total length of the bar to be changed for installation.

an extended bar; an electrical box supporting said light or paddle fan fixture mounted on said bar; a bracket pivotally mounted on each end of said extended bar for attachment to spaced studs in said ceiling; and whereby said bar is pivoted with respect to said brackets to accommodate variable spacing between said spaced studs.
2 . The mounting assembly of claim 1 in which said electrical box is slidable along said bar to allow selective positioning on said bar.
3 . The mounting assembly of claim 2 in which said bar is telescopic with said electrical box attached to a female portion of said bar with a male portion of said bar being adjustable to allow total length of said bar to be changed.
4 . The mounting assembly of claim 3 in which each said bracket comprises a base attached to a stud and an arm extending vertically from said base for being pivotally attached to an end of said bar.
5 . The mounting assembly of claim 4 in which each end of said bar has a pair of spaced wings, said arm of said bracket extending between said wings, and a pin extending through openings in said wings and said arm to allow said bar to be pivoted about said bracket.
6 . The mounting assembly of claim 1 in which said bar is telescopic with said electrical box attached to a female portion of said bar with a male portion of said bar being adjustable to allow total length of said bar to be changed.
7 . The mounting assembly of claim 6 in which each said bracket comprises a base attached to a stud and an arm extending vertically from said base for being pivotally attached to an end of said bar.
8 . The mounting assembly of claim 7 in which each end of said bar has a pair of spaced wings, said arm of said bracket extending between said wings, and a pin extending through openings in said wings and said arm to allow said bar to be pivoted about said bracket.
