Shoe polishing stand

Abstract

A shoe polishing stand provides a shoe holder mounted on a ridge member attached to front and rear legs. The shoe holder includes a clamp assembly biased by a spring to create a downward force and a shoe plate, both attached to the ridge member, so a shoe resting on the shoe plate is held in fixed position by the clamp assembly at a convenient height for polishing. In another embodiment, a shoe holder assembly is supported by a scissor-style stand. The shoe polishing stand can be folded into a compact configuration for storage under a bed or in a closet.

11 . A folding shoe polishing stand for use by a shoe polisher to polish a shoe, the shoe polishing stand comprising: 
 a shoe holder assembly; and    a scissor-style stand for elevating the shoe holder to a suitable working height.    
   
   
       12 . The folding shoe polishing stand of  claim 11 , wherein the scissor-style stand further comprises; 
 a first stand member disposed between parallel stand members and pivotally attached to the parallel stand members in the configuration of an asymmetrical “X,” wherein the first stand member has a lower end and an upper end, and wherein the parallel stand members have lower ends and upper ends;    a transverse foot member attached to the lower end of the first stand member; and    a transverse foot member attached to the lower ends of the two parallel stand members.    
   
   
       13 . The folding shoe polishing stand of  claim 12 , where each of the transverse foot members consists of hollow tubing having two ends, and wherein an end cap covers each end of each transverse foot member.  
   
   
       14 . The folding shoe polishing stand of  claim 11 , wherein the scissor-style stand further comprises: 
 a first stand member pivotally attached to a second stand member in the configuration of an asymmetrical “X,” wherein the first stand member has a lower end and an upper end and wherein the second stand member has a lower end and an upper end;    a transverse foot member attached to the lower end of the first stand member; and    a transverse foot member attached to the lower end of the second stand member.    
   
   
       15 . The folding shoe polishing stand of  claim 14 , where each of the transverse foot members consists of hollow tubing having two ends, and wherein an end cap covers each end of each transverse foot member.  
   
   
       16 . The folding shoe polishing stand of  claim 11 , wherein the shoe holder assembly further comprises: 
 a shoe plate support member attached to the scissor-style stand, the shoe plate support member having a front end, a tapered rear end, and an intermediate portion between the front end and tapered rear end;    a shoe plate rigidly attached to and supported by the shoe plate support member, the shoe plate having a front portion extending slightly forward beyond the front end of the shoe plate support member, a rear portion resting generally over the intermediate portion of the shoe plate support member, and a step for receiving the heel of the shoe; and    a collapsible clamping assembly for biasing the shoe against the shoe plate during the polishing process, so that the heel of the shoe is simultaneously pressed downward against the shoe plate and slightly forward against the step.    
   
   
       17 . The folding shoe polishing stand of  claim 13 , wherein the collapsible clamping assembly further comprises: 
 a first arcuate plate having a first end, a second end, and a spring anchor bore located between the first end and the second end, the first end of the first arcuate plate being fastened to the first-stand member adjacent the upper end of the first stand member;    a second arcuate plate having a first end, a second end, and a spring anchor bore located between the first end and the second end, the first end of the second arcuate plate being fastened to the second end of the first arcuate plate, the second end of the second arcuate plate being pivotally attached to a slotted head of a threaded bolt;    an eye bolt extending downwardly through the shoe plate support member adjacent the tapered rear end of the shoe plate support member, the eye bolt further extending downwardly through the first stand member, the eye of the eye bolt extending upwardly above the shoe plate support member and secured by a wing nut attached to the threaded portion of the eye bolt extending below the first stand member;    a first spring attached at one end to the eye of the eye bolt and at the other end to the spring anchor bore in the first arcuate plate;    a second spring attached at one end to the eye of the eye bolt and at the other end to the spring anchor bore in the second arcuate plate;    wherein, in the use position, the first and second springs cooperate to direct a force, through the threaded bolt, downwardly and slightly forward against the shoe plate when the threaded bolt is positioned in the rear portion of a shoe positioned; and    wherein removal of eye bolt from the shoe plate support member and the first stand member permits the first stand member to be folded against the second stand member; and the first arcuate plate, the second arcuate plate, and the threaded bolt with attached length of flexible tubing collapse in close proximity to the folded first and second stand members for storage.    
   
   
       18 . The shoe polishing stand of  claim 17 , wherein one end of a length of flexible tubing is threaded onto the threaded portion of the threaded bolt and the other end of the length of flexible tubing extends within the shoe toward the toe of the shoe.  
   
   
       19 . The shoe polishing stand of  claim 18 , wherein an adjusting nut attached to the threaded portion of the threaded bolt between the slotted head of the threaded bolt and the flexible tubing prevents movement of the flexible tubing towards the slotted head of the threaded bolt.  
   
   
       20 . A folding boot polishing stand for use by a boot polisher to polish a boot, the folding boot polishing stand comprising: 
 a boot holder assembly, the boot holder assembly further comprising: 
 a boot plate support member attached to the scissor-style stand, the boot plate support member having a front end, a tapered rear end, and an intermediate portion between the front end and tapered rear end;  
 a boot plate rigidly attached to and supported by the boot plate support, member, the boot plate having a front portion extending slightly forward beyond the front end of the boot plate'support member, a rear portion resting generally over the intermediate portion of the boot plate support member, and a step for receiving the heel of the boot; and  
 a collapsible clamping assembly for biasing the boot against the boot plate during the polishing process, so that the heel of the boot is simultaneously pressed downward against the boot plate and slightly forward against the step; and  
   a scissor-style stand for elevating the boot holder assembly to a suitable working height, the scissor-style stand further comprising; 
 a first stand member pivotally attached to a second stand member in the configuration of an asymmetrical “X,” wherein the first stand member has a lower end and an upper end and wherein the second stand member has a lower end and an upper end;  
 a transverse foot member attached to the lower end of the first stand member; and  
   a transverse foot member attached to the lower end of the second stand member.
