Abstract

A system for providing a user-customizable cartridge for use with a wireless computing device is provided. An access module is configured to retrieve a template for a cartridge script. A toolkit is configured to build a scenario based on user instructions. A zone interface is configured to describe geolocational data for defining zones of influence, which each form an enclosed physical space. An event interface is configured to describe trigger conditions for defining a series of events, which are each associated with a zone of influence. A trigger interface is configured to define each trigger condition including a temporal, locational, or independent trigger condition. The zones of influence, series of events, and trigger conditions are stored into the template. A compiler is configured to compile the template into a cartridge script, which is stored into a database. A server is configured to download the cartridge script onto a wireless device.

1 . A system for building a user-customizable cartridge script, the system comprising: 
 a storage medium configured to hold a template of a cartridge script;    a toolkit configured to build a scenario based on user instructions using the template of the cartridge script, the toolkit comprising:    a zone interface configured to describe geolocational data for defining one or more zones of influence, which each form a logically enclosed physical space;    an event interface configured to describe at least one of temporal, locational and independent trigger conditions for defining a series of events, which are each associated with at least one zone of influence,    wherein the zones of influence and series of events are stored into the template; and    a compiler configured to compile the template into a cartridge script configured to be downloaded and autonomously executed on a wireless computing device.    
   
   
       2 . A system according to  claim 1 , the system further comprising: 
 a server configured to download the cartridge script onto a wireless computing device.    
   
   
       3 . A system according to  claim 1 , wherein at least one of the zones of influence can be defined to inherit at least one event from one or more other zones of influence.  
   
   
       4 . A system according to  claim 1 , wherein one or more of the zones of influence specify at least one of a starting location and an ending location.  
   
   
       5 . A system according to  claim 1 , wherein the trigger conditions are selected from the group comprising movement, direction, speed, acceleration, tactile effects, sound effects, and visual effects.  
   
   
       6 . A system according to  claim 1 , wherein each event comprises at least one of a sound effect, visual effect, tactile effect, olfactory effect, text effect, and multimedia display.  
   
   
       7 . A system according to  claim 1 , wherein the cartridge script is configured to be executed on a plurality of collaborating wireless gaming devices.  
   
   
       8 . A system according to  claim 1 , wherein the cartridge script is configured to manipulate an item between a plurality of collaborating wireless gaming devices.  
   
   
       9 . A system according to  claim 1 , the system further comprising: 
 a database accessible via a network and configured to store the cartridge script.    
   
   
       10 . A system for providing a user-customizable cartridge for use with a wireless computing device, the system comprising: 
 an access module configured to retrieve a template for a cartridge script;    a toolkit configured to build a scenario based on user instructions, the toolkit comprising: 
 a zone interface configured to describe geolocational data for defining one or more zones of influence, which each form an enclosed physical space;  
 an event interface configured to describe trigger conditions for defining a series of events, which are each associated with at least one zone of influence; and  
 a trigger interface configured to define each trigger condition comprising at least one of a temporal, locational, and independent trigger condition,  
 wherein the zones of influence, series of events, and trigger conditions are stored into the template;  
   a compiler configured to compile the template into a cartridge script, which is stored into a database; and    a server configured to download the cartridge script from the database onto a wireless computing device.    
   
   
       11 . A system according to  claim 10 , wherein at least one of the zones of influence can be defined to inherit at least one event from one or more other zones of influence.  
   
   
       12 . A system according to  claim 10 , wherein one or more of the zones of influence specify at least one of a starting location and an ending location.  
   
   
       13 . A system according to  claim 10 , wherein the trigger conditions are selected from the group comprising movement, direction, speed, acceleration, tactile effects, sound effects, and visual effects.  
   
   
       14 . A system according to  claim 10 , wherein each event comprises at least one of a sound effect, visual effect, tactile effect, olfactory effect, text effect, and multimedia display.  
   
   
       15 . A system according to  claim 10 , wherein the cartridge script is configured to be executed on a plurality of collaborating wireless gaming devices.  
   
   
       16 . A system according to  claim 10 , wherein the cartridge script is configured to manipulate an item between a plurality of collaborating wireless gaming devices.  
   
   
       17 . Stored data for building a user-customizable cartridge for use with a wireless computing device, the stored data comprising: 
 geolocational data configured to represent one or more zones of influence that each form an enclosed physical space; and    event data configured to specify a series of events triggered by at least one of temporal, locational and independent trigger conditions, wherein each event is associated with one such zone of influence,    wherein the geolocational data and event data are compiled into a cartridge script configured to be downloaded and autonomously executed on a wireless computing device.    
   
   
       18 . Stored data according to  claim 17 , wherein the wireless device comprises processing, locational, and output capabilities.  
   
   
       19 . Stored data according to  claim 17 , the stored data further comprising: 
 item data comprising at least one of item attributes, interactions, and events related to the event data, wherein the item data is further compiled into the cartridge script.    
   
   
       20 . Stored data according to  claim 17 , the stored data further comprising: 
 non-player character data comprising at least one of non-character attributes, interactions, and events related to the event data, wherein the non-player character data is further compiled into the cartridge script.
