Weighted octagonal beach towel

Abstract

The weighted octagonal beach towel, includes a flexible base made of towel material, having a generally octagonal periphery with eight major sides and each of the eight major sides having an elongated sealed pocket adjacent its periphery. It also includes eight separate rope segments, one of each being contained within one of each of the elongated sealed pockets. The eight major sides are preferably equal in length to one another. In many preferred embodiments, the weighted octagonal beach towel has an imaginary center point and the distance between opposite major sides is within the range of about 5.5 feet to about 7.5 feet, with about 7 feet being preferred.

       21 . A weighted octagonal beach towel, which comprises:
 a) a flexible base made of towel material, said flexible base having a first side and a second side, said first side being adapted to contact a beach surface, and said second side being adapted to touch a body surface of at least one user, said flexible base having a generally octagonal periphery with eight major sides, each of said eight major sides having an elongated sealed pocket adjacent its periphery; and,   b) eight separate rope segments, one of each being contained within one of each of said elongated sealed pockets;   wherein the distance between opposing major sides is within the range of about 5 feet to 7.5 feet;   whereby average human users can orientate thereon without moving said beach towel.   
   
   
       22 . The weighted octagonal beach towel of  claim 21  wherein each of said eight major sides are equal in length to one another. 
   
   
       23 . The weighted octagonal beach towel of  claim 21  wherein said rope segments are of equal length. 
   
   
       24 . The weighted octagonal beach towel of  claim 21  wherein each rope segments has a length equal to about 75% to about 90% of the length of each major side at its periphery. 
   
   
       25 . The weighted octagonal beach towel of  claim 21  wherein each of said major sides has a length of about 28 to about 36 inches. 
   
   
       26 . The weighted octagonal beach towel of  claim 21  wherein each of said rope segments are selected from the group consisting of synthetic cord, woven synthetic cord, woven natural cord and combinations thereof. 
   
   
       27 . The weighted octagonal beach towel of  claim 26  wherein the synthetic is selected from the group consisting of nylon, polyester, vinyl, polyacrolate, and combinations thereof. 
   
   
       28 . The weighted octagonal beach towel of  claim 21  wherein said rope has a diameter in the range of about 0.5 inches to about 1.5 inches. 
   
   
       29 . The weighted octagonal beach towel of  claim 21  wherein said flexible base includes a scenic print. 
   
   
       30 . The weighted octagonal beach towel of  claim 21  wherein said flexible base includes a extended towel material that has been notched at each major side corner, folder over and sealed to create said sealed pockets. 
   
   
       31 . The weighted octagonal beach towel of  claim 21  wherein said flexible base comprises a single unit member comprising substantially tower material. 
   
   
       32 . The weighted octagonal beach towel of  claim 21  which further includes an elongated tote bag having a length equal to at least ⅓ of the distance between opposite major sides so that said towel is adapted to be folded in half and in quarters and then rolled and placed in said tote bag. 
   
   
       33 . The weighted octagonal beach towel of  claim 32  wherein said tote bag includes an adjustable shoulder strap. 
   
   
       34 . The weighted octagonal beach towel of  claim 32  wherein said tote bag includes an exterior compartment adapted to hold beach accessories selected from the group consisting of tanning location, sunglasses, cell phone and combinations thereof. 
   
   
       35 . A weighted octagonal beach towel, which comprises:
 a) a flexible base made of towel material, said flexible base having a first side and a second side, said first side being adapted to contact a beach surface, and said second side being adapted to touch a body surface of at least one user, said flexible base having a generally octagonal periphery with eight major sides, each of said eight major sides having an elongated sealed pocket adjacent its periphery, each of said elongated sealed pockets being a folded and sealed trapezoidal section of said flexible base; and,   b) eight separate rope segments, one of each being contained within one of each of said elongated sealed pockets;   wherein the distance between opposing major sides is within the range of about 5 feet to 7.5 feet;   whereby average human users can orientate thereon without moving said beach towel, and said trapezoidal section of said flexible base provides ease of formation of said beach towel.   
   
   
       36 . The weighted octagonal beach towel of  claim 35  wherein each of said eight major sides are equal in length to one another. 
   
   
       37 . The weighted octagonal beach towel of  claim 35  wherein said rope segments are of equal length. 
   
   
       38 . The weighted octagonal beach towel of  claim 35  wherein each rope segments has a length equal to about 75% to about 90% of the length of each major side at its periphery. 
   
   
       39 . The weighted octagonal beach towel of  claim 35  wherein each of said major sides has a length of about 28 to about 36 inches.
