Abstract

An elongate pagewidth inkjet printhead includes a plurality of nozzles sharing a common ink reservoir. The nozzles are arranged to form a grid of pods with each pod including a plurality of rows of nozzles. The pods are arranged to form serially arranged podgroups along the length of the printhead. The printhead is configured to perform either low speed printing whereby nozzles in alternating podgroups concurrently eject ink or high speed printing whereby nozzles in all podgroups concurrently eject ink.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . An elongate pagewidth inkjet printhead comprising a plurality of nozzles sharing a common ink reservoir, the nozzles being arranged to form a grid of pods with each pod comprising a plurality of rows of nozzles, the pods being arranged to form serially arranged podgroups along the length of the printhead, the printhead being configured to perform either low speed printing whereby nozzles in alternating podgroups concurrently fire or high speed printing whereby nozzles in all podgroups concurrently fire.

2 . A printhead as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the concurrently fired nozzles are configured to be maximally distant with respect to each other.

3 . A printhead as claimed in claim 1 which, for each pod, is configured to fire all of the nozzles in a first row prior to firing any of the nozzles in another row.

4 . A printhead as claimed in claim 3 , wherein all of the nozzles in the first row are configured to be fired successively.

5 . A printhead as claimed in claim 4 , wherein the nozzles in the other row are also configured to be fired successively.

6 . A printhead as claimed in claim 5 , wherein the nozzles in the rows are configured to be fired successively in the same direction.

7 . A printhead as claimed in claim 1 , wherein each pod consists of two rows of five nozzles.
