Method of capturing note-taking session using interactive notepad
Abstract
A method is provided of capturing, in a computer system, data relating to a note-taking session using an interactive notepad. In the method, the computer system receives: a session start indication indicated by interaction of a writing implement with coded data of a control portion of the notepad; data indicative of handwritten annotations made on a note-taking portion of the notepad using the writing implement; and a session end indication indicated by interaction of the writing implement with the control portion coded data, and in response to receiving the indication of the session end and without user intervention, the method prints a session end page indicating a start and/or end time of the session. The control portion coded data is indicative of a reference point(s) in the control portion, and the note-taking portion includes coded data indicative of a reference point(s) in the note-taking portion.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A method of capturing, in a computer system, data relating to a note-taking session using an interactive notepad, the method comprising the steps of:
receiving, in the computer system, an indication of the start of the note-taking session indicated by interaction of a writing implement with coded data of a control portion of the notepad, the coded data being indicative of at least one reference point in the control portion; receiving, in the computer system, data indicative of handwritten annotations made on a note-taking portion of the notepad using the writing implement, the note-taking portion including coded data indicative of at least one reference point in the note-taking portion; receiving, in the computer system, an indication of the end of the note-taking session indicated by interaction of the writing implement with the coded data of the control portion; and in response to receiving the indication of the end of the note-taking session and without user intervention, printing a note-taking session end page indicating at least one of a start time and an end time of the note-taking session.
2 . A method according to claim 1 , wherein the coded data comprises non-barcode coded data.
3 . A method according to claim 1 , wherein each page of the note-taking portion of the notepad includes coded data indicative of an identity of that page, said writing implement being configured to detect the coded data indicative of the identity of each page interacted with.
4 . A method according to claim 1 , wherein said control portion comprises at least one control zone, the computer system receiving an indication that said writing implement has interacted with the at least one control zone.
5 . A method according to claim 4 , wherein said at least one control zone includes a zone associated with the start of the note-taking session, and said indication of the start of the note-taking session is provided by the computer system receiving an indication that said writing implement has interacted with said zone.
6 . A method according to claim 4 , wherein said at least one control zone includes a zone associated with the end of the note-taking session, and said indication of the end of the note-taking session is provided by the computer system receiving an indication that said writing implement has interacted with said zone.
7 . A method according to claim 4 , wherein said at least one control zone includes a zone associated with a request to print the note-taking session, the computer system receiving an indication that said writing implement has interacted with said zone.
8 . A method according to claim 1 , wherein said writing implement includes a writing nib associated with a sensor for sensing nib contact with the notepad.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
