Method and casting machine for production of casting bars in the shape of billets or blocks
Abstract
A method of producing cast strands ( 2 ) in shapes of billets or ingots wherein the strand ( 2 ) is guided between pairs of rollers ( 4 to n) and is formed in the straightening region (A), with the use of straightening profiled rollers ( 4 to 6 ) with one-sided or multiple-sided projections (h, b) or recesses (-h, b), and in the casting direction ( 10 ), downstream of the straightening region, the strand is subjected to a soft-reduction with at least one roller pair ( 7 to 9 ) with thickness-reducing smooth rollers. The invention also relates to a casting machine provided with correspondingly formed rollers.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A method of producing cast strands ( 2 ) in shape of billets or ingots, comprising the steps of forming a cast strand ( 2 ) in a continuous casting mold; deflecting the cast strand beneath the casting mold by a cast radius R from a vertical casting direction into a horizontal casting direction ( 13 ) and through a straightening region (A); forming the cast strand, in the straightening region (A), with one or several projections (h, b) or recesses (-h, -b) by using profiled rollers ( 4 - 6 ); and subjecting the cast strand, in a soft-reduction region (B) located downstream of the straightening region (A), to soft reduction with at least one roller pair ( 7 , 8 , 9 ) with smooth rollers, the soft-reduction subjecting step including displacing the rollers of the at least one roller pair ( 7 , 8 , 9 ) substantially horizontally in the casting direction or in a direction opposite the casting direction for optimal adaptation of the at least one roller pair to a position of a liquid pool lowest point, and advancing the at least one roller pair toward and away according to a position of the lowest point of the liquid pool, wherein the cast strand forming step includes forming the cast strand with two-sided projections (h, b, h′, b′) or recesses (-h, -b, -h′, -b′) provided on opposite sides of the strand ( 2 ).
2 - 3 . (canceled)
4 . A method according to claim 1 , wherein a projection height (h) on each side constitutes maximum 6%.
5 . A casting machine for producing cast strands ( 2 ) in shape of billets or ingots, comprising a continuous casting mold ( 1 ) for forming a cast strand ( 2 ) that is deflected by a cast radius (R) from a vertical casting direction in horizontal casting direction ( 13 ); a straightening region (A) having straightening profiled roller pairs ( 4 , 5 , 6 ) with positive diametrical regions (h, b) or negative diametrical regions (-h, -b) for forming the cast strand with one or several projections (h, b) or recesses (-h, -b); and a soft-reduction region (B) adjoining the straightening region and having at least one roller pair ( 7 , 8 , 9 ) with thickness-reducing smooth rollers, wherein in the straightening region (A), at least one pair of straightening profiled rollers ( 4 to 6 ) is provided on both sides of a tangent point ( 3 ) of the cast radius (R).Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
