Forming Tool
Abstract
The invention relates to a forming die having a cavity which forms a shaping space and into which a workpiece can be introduced. A passage, which connects the shaping space to the area surrounding the die, runs within the forming die. To achieve a contour during the shaping of the workpiece which is unaffected by the arrangement of passages connecting the shaping space to the area surrounding the die in a simple way, it is proposed that the die contains a liquid-permeable and gas-permeable insert body, which is held in a recess of the die near to the shaping space and by means of a peripheral region facing the shaping space forms a section of the cavity, and that the passage opens out at the insert body outside this peripheral region.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A forming die comprising a cavity which forms a shaping space and into which a workpiece can be introduced;
a passage which runs through an interior of the die and connects the shaping space to an exterior area surrounding the die; wherein, the die contains a liquid-permeable and gas-permeable insert body, which is held in a recess of the die near to the shaping space; a surface region of the insert body facing the shaping space forms a section of the cavity; and the passage opens out at the insert body outside this surface region.
2 . The forming die as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the insert body comprises a porous sintered metal.
3 . The forming die as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the insert body is one of an ultrafine sieve and a diaphragm.
4 . The forming die as claimed in claim 1 , wherein:
the forming die is a hydroforming die; and the workpiece is formed by a peripherally continuous hollow profiled section.
5 . The forming die as claimed in claim 1 , wherein:
the forming die is a hydroforming die; and the workpiece is formed by two plates resting on top of one another, which can be clamped in the forming die between an upper die block and a lower die block and between which a fluidic internal high pressure can be generated by means of a lance-like plunger which is assigned to the forming die and is introduced between the plates.
6 . A forming die comprising:
a block of material which has a recess formed therein, said recess having a surface contour that conforms to a desired shape into which a workpiece is to be formed; at least one passage which penetrates through said block of material and connects said surface of said recess with an exterior of the block of material, said passage having an enlarged cross section forming a cavity at an extremity thereof adjacent said surface of said recess; and an insert body comprising a permeable material which is contained in said cavity; wherein, said permeable material is at least one of gas permeable and liquid permeable; and a surface of said permeable material that adjoins said surface of said recess has a contour which conforms to said desired shape in an area of said permeable material.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
