Abstract

System and method for providing a roof ventilation system are disclosed. The roof ventilation system may include a core, a filter, and a spanner. The core may be configured to conform to a roof surface irregularity. The filter may be configured to hinder rain and debris from entering into an attic from ambient yet allow air to flow from the attic to ambient. The spanner may be configured to allow the roof ventilation system of adjust for roof slopes.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A system for providing roof ventilation, comprising:
a longitudinally extending spanner having opposed lateral edges; it least one core attached proximal an edge of the spanner, each core having a plurality of peaks and valleys with, sidewalls extending therebetween; and a filter operatively attached to at least one of the following: one respective core and the spanner.

2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the core comprises a non-woven thermoplastic material.

3 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the spanner comprises a non-woven thermoplastic material.

4 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the spanner is attached to the core at a plurality of the peaks.

5 . The system of claim 4 , wherein the spanner is attached to the core at every other peak.

6 . The system of claim 1 , whereto the filter comprises a non-woven thermoplastic material.

7 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the filter is conformable to a rooting surface.

8 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the core is pleated.

9 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the filter is creped.

10 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the filter the spanner, and the core are bonded together by ultrasonic welding.

11 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the filter composes an open-cell foam.

12 . The system of claim 1 wherein the spanner is a ridge cap of a roof.

13 . A system for providing roof ventilation, the system, comprising:
means for providing a first space between a ridge cap and a ridge slot located on one longitudinally-extending side a roof ridge; means for forming a second space between the ridge cap and the ridge slot located on an opposite side of the roof ridge than the providing means; and means for filtering air passing from the ridge slot and through the providing means and the forming means.

14 . The system of claim 13 , wherein the providing and the forming means comprise a non-woven thermoplastic material.

15 . The system of claim 13 , further comprising means for connecting the providing means and forming means, wherein the connecting means comprises at least one of the following: a cap shingle, a ridge cap, a fabric located beneath the cap shingle, and a fabric located beneath the ridge cap.

16 . The system of claim 13 , wherein the means for connecting the providing means and the forming means comprises the filtering means.

17 . The system, of claim 13 , wherein the providing means and the filtering means are conformable to a roofing surface.

18 . The system of claim 13 , wherein the filtering means is conformable to a roofing surface.

19 . The system of claim 13 , wherein the filtering means hinders intrusion of at least one of rain, debris, insects, and rodents.

20 . The system of claim 13 , wherein the filtering means comprises an open-cell foam.

21 . A system for providing roof ventilation, the system comprising:
a spanner configured to allow the system to conform to a slope of a roof a core connected to the spanner and configured to:
provide a space between a ridge cap and a ridge slot, and
 conform to a roof surface irregularity;
a filter attached to the core, the filter configured to allow air flow from an attic to ambient.

22 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the core comprises a non-woven thermoplastic material.

23 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the spanner comprises a non-woven thermoplastic material.

24 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the filter acts as the spanner.

25 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the filter comprises a non-woven thermoplastic material.

26 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the filter is conformable to a roof surface irregularity.

27 . The system of claim 21 , wherein, the core is pleated.

28 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the filter is creped.

29 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the filter, the spanner, and the core are bonded together by ultrasonic welding.

30 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the filter comprises an open-cell foam.

31 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the core comprises an open-cell foam.

32 . A method for providing roof ventilation comprising:
installing a core that establishes a space between a ridge cap and a ridge slot to air flow between an enclosure and ambient; providing a barrier to hinder the passage of at least one of rain and debris from passing through the core; and covering the core with the ridge cap.

33 . The method of claim 32 , wherein providing a filter comprises attaching the filter to the core.
