Method and arrangement for the speed control of a motor vehicle and operator-controlled element

Abstract

A method and an arrangement for the speed control of a vehicle as well an operator-controlled element are disclosed which make possible an improved acceleration and/or deceleration input by the driver of the motor vehicle. The speed control takes place in dependence upon a value for an acceleration and/or deceleration of the motor vehicle with this value being pregiven with the aid of an operator-controlled element. The function of the operator-controlled element is different from the function of an accelerator pedal and a brake pedal. With the actuation of the operator-controlled element, one of several different values for the acceleration and/or deceleration is selected and pregiven.

An operator-controlled element for an arrangement for controlling the speed of a motor vehicle in dependence upon a value pregiven by said operator-controlled element, said value being for an acceleration and/or a deceleration of said motor vehicle, said operator-controlled element having a function different from the function of an accelerator pedal and a brake pedal, the operator-controlled element comprising: 
 a holding body;    a pull/press pin mounted in said holding body so as to be displaceable with respect thereto from a zero position in a first direction into said holding body and in a second direction out of said holding body and, depending upon how far said pin is pushed into said holding body or how far said pin is pulled out of said holding body, various values for said acceleration or said deceleration can be selected and outputted; and,    said acceleration and deceleration having a magnitude which is dependent upon the position of said pin with respect to said zero position.
