Abstract

The invention relates to a rolled product having a thickness that can be adjusted by means of separation. The inventive product comprises an alternating stack of sheets and layers of an adhesive material. Each of said sheets has an intrinsic resistance to tearing and each layer of adhesive material joins together two adjacent sheets in the stack using a bond strength that is lower than the tearing resistance of the sheets. In this way, each sheet can be detached from the stack without being torn. According to the invention, each sheet is essentially made from woven fibers and each sheet belonging to each pair of sheets which are adjacent to the same layer of adhesive material is impregnated, throughout the thickness thereof, with a mass of adhesive material which is incorporated in the shared layer of adhesive material.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . Manufacturing process of a laminated product having a thickness that is adjustable by exfoliation, the process comprising the steps of:
selecting sheets of fabric of woven fibers, and an adhesive material; impregnating the sheets with said adhesive material; performing a stacking operation to make a stack alternating single impregnated sheets and layers of said adhesive material for bonding together the stack.

2 . Process according to claim 1 , wherein the adhesive material in each impregnated sheets is pre-polymerized.

3 . Process according to claim 2 , wherein the adhesive material is a resin.

4 . Process according to claim 2 , wherein the adhesive material represents 40% to 60% of the volume of sheet after impregnation.

5 . Process according to claim 3 further comprising the step of adding additives to the resin to make the adhesive material, where these additives are hardeners and/or diluents intended to modify the viscosity of adhesive material.

6 . Process according to claim 2 , wherein the fibers in the sheets are essentially fibers made of at least one of glass, carbon, ceramic and aramid.

7 . Process according to claim 2 , wherein the impregnated sheets are polymerized, by the further steps of:
arranging sheets between two flat parallel supports, and pressing the supports together at ambient or high temperature for a pre-determined period of time.

8 . Process according to claim 5 , wherein the adhesive material comprises more than 50% of additive.

9 . Process according to claim 1 , further comprising a pre-polymerization step of keeping impregnated sheets at an ambient or low temperature for a pre-determined period of time.

10 . Process according to claim 9 further comprising the step of adding additives to the resin to make the adhesive material, where these additives are hardeners and/or diluents intended to modify the viscosity of adhesive material, wherein the adherence of adjacent sheets of the laminated product, is reduced by increasing the quantity of diluent in proportion to the quantity of resin in adhesive material and/or by increasing the duration of the pre-polymerization step.

11 . Process according to claim 1 , wherein the impregnating step is carried out by any one process of pulverization, manual application using a roller, printing on a machine of the “offset” type, and soaking.

12 . Application of a product made by the process of claim 1 to the constitution of a peelable shim for mechanical assemblies.

13 . Process according to claim 3 , wherein the resin is selected from the group consisting of epoxies, phonolics, vinyl-esters, polyvinylics and combinations thereof.

14 . Process according to claim 1 , wherein the adhesive material is a resin.

15 . Process according to claim 1 , wherein the adhesive material represents 40% to 60% of the volume of sheet after impregnation.

16 . Process according to claim 14 further comprising the step of adding additives to the resin to make the adhesive material, where these additives are hardeners and/or diluents intended to modify the viscosity of adhesive material.

17 . Process according to claim 1 , wherein the fibers in the sheets are essentially fibers made of at least one of glass, carbon, ceramic and aramid.

18 . Process according to claim 1 , wherein the impregnated sheets are polymerized, by the further steps of:
arranging the stack between two flat parallel supports, and pressing the supports together at ambient or high temperature for a pre-determined period of time.

19 . Manufacturing process of a laminated product having a thickness that is adjustable by exfoliation, the process comprising the steps of:
selecting sheets of fabric of woven fibers having a predetermined resistance to tearing, and an adhesive material; impregnating the sheets with said adhesive material; performing a stacking operation to make a stack alternating single impregnated sheets and layers of said adhesive material for bonding the stack with a bonding force that is weaker than the resistance of the sheets to tearing.

20 . Process according to claim 19 , wherein the bonding force of the stack is made weaker than the resistance of the sheets to tearing by a pre-polymerization step of keeping impregnated sheets at an ambient or low temperature for a pre-determined period of time.
