Closure container for single dose disposable pharmaceutical delivery system

Abstract

The disposable unit dose pharmaceutical delivery system may be used by trained medical personnel for intradermal or subcutaneous injections in applications currently being serviced by conventional pre-filled syringes. The delivery system may also be used by personnel with little or no medical training for mass immunizations in underdeveloped parts of the world, insulin injections, and/or emergency epinephrine injections. The delivery system includes an envelope with a tear-away section and a dispensing section. When the tear-away section has been removed, a needle is exposed and is ready for insertion in the patient. The dispensing portion is squeezed between the thumb and forefinger to inject the pharmaceutical into the patient. The exterior surface of the envelope may be used for advertising by a pharmaceutical producer, a supplier or otherwise.

1 . A single dose disposable pharmaceutical delivery system comprising:
 an envelope having a tear-away portion and a dispensing portion;   indicia on an exterior of the envelope with a name of a supplier;   the dispensing portion having a bladder to contain the pharmaceutical;   the dispensing portion also having a needle secured to a needle hub, the needle being in a stationary position relative to the bladder; and   the tear-away portion having an internal cap to protect an exposed portion of the needle.   
   
   
       2 . The apparatus of  claim 1  further including at least one seal to retain the pharmaceutical in the bladder. 
   
   
       3 . The apparatus of  claim 1  further including an elastomeric fill port to facilitate filling of the bladder with the pharmaceutical. 
   
   
       4 . The apparatus of  claim 1  further including indicia on an exterior of the envelope with a unit dose and a pharmaceutical name. 
   
   
       5 . A single dose disposable delivery system comprising:
 an envelope having a tear-away portion and a dispensing portion;   indicia on an exterior of the envelope with a name of a supplier:   the dispensing portion having a bladder to contain a pharmaceutical;   the dispensing portion also having a needle hub and a needle fixedly attached to and extending from the needle hub; and   the tear away portion having a cap to protect a sharp end of the needle.   
   
   
       6 . The apparatus of  claim 5  further including at least one seal to assist in retention of the pharmaceutical in the bladder. 
   
   
       7 . The apparatus of  claim 5  further including an elastomeric fill port to facilitate filling of the bladder with the pharmaceutical. 
   
   
       8 . The apparatus of  claim 5  further including indicia on an exterior of the envelope with a unit dose and a pharmaceutical name. 
   
   
       9 . A single dose disposable pharmaceutical delivery system comprising:
 an envelope having a tear-away portion and a dispensing portion;   the dispensing portion having a bladder and a seal to contain the pharmaceutical;   the dispensing portion also having a needle hub and a needle extending from and rigidly attached to the needle hub, the needle in fluid communication with the bladder;   the tear-away portion having an internal cap to protect an exposed portion of the needle; and   the bladder having a fill port to facilitate filling of the bladder with the pharmaceutical.   
   
   
       10 . The apparatus of  claim 9  further including indicia on an exterior of the envelope with a unit dose and a pharmaceutical name. 
   
   
       11 . The apparatus of  claim 9  further including indicia on an exterior of the envelope with a name of a supplier. 
   
   
       12 . A single dose disposable pharmaceutical delivery system comprising:
 an envelope having a tear-away portion and a dispensing portion;   the dispensing portion having a bladder to contain the pharmaceutical;   the dispensing portion also having a needle secured to a needle hub, the needle being in a stationary position relative to the bladder;   at least one seal attached to the needle hub to assist in retaining the pharmaceutical in the bladder;   the tear-away portion having an internal cap to protect an exposed portion of the needle; and   the bladder having a fill port to facilitate filling of the bladder with the pharmaceutical.   
   
   
       13 . The apparatus of  claim 12  further including indicia on an exterior of the envelope with a unit dose and a pharmaceutical name. 
   
   
       14 . The apparatus of  claim 12  further including indicia on an exterior of the envelope with a name of a supplier.
