Door for Drum Type Washing Machines

Abstract

Disclosed herein is a door for drum type washing machines wherein a decorative band is permanently attached to a door frame by means of improved engagement between the decorative band and the door frame. The door comprises a door frame formed by injection molding, and a decorative band inserted in a mold by an insert injection method when the door frame is formed by injection molding such that the decorative band is attached to the front surface of the door frame.

1 . A door for drum type washing machines, comprising: 
 a door frame formed by injection molding; and    a decorative band inserted in a mold by an insert injection method when the door frame is formed by injection molding such that the decorative band is attached to the front surface of the door frame.    
   
   
       2 . The door as set forth in  claim 1 , wherein the decorative band is attached to the edge of the front surface of the door frame.  
   
   
       3 . The door as set forth in  claim 2 , wherein the door frame has a depression formed at the edge of the front surface thereof for receiving the decorative band.  
   
   
       4 . The door as set forth in  claim 3 , wherein the depression has a depth equal to the thickness of the decorative band.  
   
   
       5 . The door as set forth in  claim 4 , wherein 
 the decorative band is substantially formed in the shape of a ring, and    the decorative band is provided at the inside and outside surfaces thereof with at least one fixing hole or protrusion.    
   
   
       6 . The door as set forth in  claim 4 , wherein 
 the decorative band is provided at the inside and outside surfaces thereof with at least one fixing groove,    the at least one fixing groove extending a predetermined length along the circumference of the decorative band.    
   
   
       7 . The door as set forth in  claim 1 , wherein the door frame and the decorative band have different lusters.  
   
   
       8 . The door as set forth in  claim 7 , wherein the decorative band is metallically lusterless.  
   
   
       9 . The door as set forth in  claim 8 , wherein the decorative band is made of a metal material.  
   
   
       10 . A door for drum type washing machines, comprising: 
 a door frame formed by injection molding;    a decorative band inserted in a mold by an insert injection method when the door frame is formed by injection molding such that the decorative band is attached to the front surface of the door frame; and    a door glass disposed at the edge of the inner circumferential surface of the door frame, the door glass being made of a transparent material.    
   
   
       11 . The door as set forth in  claim 10 , wherein the door frame and the decorative band have different lusters.  
   
   
       12 . The door as set forth in  claim 11 , wherein the decorative band is made of a metal material.  
   
   
       13 . The door as set forth in  claim 11 , wherein the decorative band is metallically lusterless.  
   
   
       14 . The door as set forth in  claim 13 , wherein the decorative band is attached to the edge of the front surface of the door frame.  
   
   
       15 . The door as set forth in  claim 14 , wherein the door frame has a depression formed at the edge of the front surface thereof for receiving the decorative band.  
   
   
       16 . The door as set forth in  claim 15 , wherein the depression has a depth equal to the thickness of the decorative band.  
   
   
       17 . The door as set forth in  claim 16 , wherein 
 the decorative band is substantially formed in the shape of a ring, and    the decorative band is provided at the inside and outside surfaces thereof with at least one fixing hole or protrusion.    
   
   
       18 . The door as set forth in  claim 16 , wherein 
 the decorative band is provided at the inside and outside surfaces thereof with at least one fixing groove,    the at least one fixing groove extending a predetermined length along the circumference of the decorative band.    
   
   
       19 . A drum type washing machine comprising: 
 a cabinet forming the outer appearance of the washing machine;    a front cover mounted at the front surface of the cabinet;    a control panel disposed at the upper part of the front cover;    a control unit disposed at the front surface of the control panel for controlling the operation of the washing machine and inputting washing conditions; and    a door disposed at the center part of the front cover such that the door can be opened when laundry is to be put into the washing machine, wherein the door comprises:    a door frame formed by injection molding; and    a decorative band inserted in a mold by an insert injection method when the door frame is formed by injection molding such that the decorative band is attached to the front surface of the door frame.    
   
   
       20 . The washing machine as set forth in  claim 19 , wherein the door further comprises: 
 a door glass disposed at the edge of the inner circumferential surface of the door frame, the door glass being made of a transparent material.
