Abstract

The present invention is an adjustable support for installing a planar sheet of material between opposed surfaces without the need for piercing the opposed surfaces with nails or screws. The supports provide pressure to wedge the planar sheet, thereby holding it in place during storms, etc. The supports are easily removed. The support has a base and adjustably/removable attached clamp whereby the planar material is sandwiched between the base and clamp. A pressure screw threaded through the clamp and passing through the base is tightened, thereby applying traverse pressure on the planar sheet, wedging it between the opposed surfaces.

1 . An adjustable support for mounting a substantially planar object between substantially opposed support surfaces, the support comprising: 
 a substantially L-shaped base having a first side and a second side;    a clamp means having a side surface and a bottom surface, the clamp means being removably and adjustably attached to the first side of the L-shaped base, thereby forming an aperture between the second side of the L-shaped base and the bottom surface of the clamp means, the aperture adapted to accept the substantially planar object; and    a pressure screw threaded through the clamp means and passing through an elongated hole in the first side of the L-shaped base, the pressure screw adapted to apply force against a first support surface to wedge the substantially planar object between the first support surface and a substantially opposed second support surface.    
   
   
       2 . The adjustable support of  claim 1 , wherein the clamp means is removably attached by a plurality of screws passing through an equal number of elongated holes in the first side of the L-shaped base and into threaded holes in the side surface of the clamp means.

The adjustable support of  claim 1 , further comprising a first set of serrated edges on an inside surface of the first side of the L-shaped base where the L-shaped base interfaces with the clamp means and a second set of serrated edges on the side surface of the clamp means where the clamp means interfaces with the L-shaped base, the first set of serrated edges angled towards the aperture and the second set of serrated edges angled away from the aperture.  
   
   
       4 . The adjustable support of  claim 1 , wherein the clamp means is made of a material selected from the group consisting of aluminum, steel, stainless steel, ultra-high molecular weight plastic and glass-filled polypropylene.  
   
   
       5 . The adjustable support of  claim 1 , wherein the L-shaped base is made a material selected from the group consisting of aluminum, steel, stainless steel, ultra-high molecular weight plastic and glass-filled polypropylene.  
   
   
       6 . The adjustable support of  claim 1 , wherein the opposed support surfaces are an inside surfaces of a window frame.  
   
   
       7 . The adjustable support of  claim 1 , wherein the opposed support surfaces are an inside surfaces of a door frame.  
   
   
       8 . An system for mounting a substantially planar object between substantially opposed support surfaces, the support comprising: 
 a substantially planar object;    a first and second opposed support surfaces forming at least a portion of an opening;    at least one support, the at least one support comprising: 
 a substantially L-shaped base having a first side and a second side;  
 a clamp means having a side surface and a bottom surface, the clamp means being removably and adjustably attached to the first side of the L-shaped base thereby forming an aperture between the second side of the L-shaped base and the bottom surface of the clamp, the aperture adapted to accept the substantially planar object; and  
 a pressure screw threaded through the clamp means and passing through an elongated hole in the first side of the L-shaped base, the pressure screw adapted to apply force against a first support surface to wedge the substantially planar object between the first support surface and a substantially opposed second support surface.  
   
   
   
       9 . The adjustable support of  claim 8 , wherein the clamp means is removably attached to the L-shaped base by a plurality of screws passing through an equal number of elongated holes in the first side of the L-shaped base and into threaded holes in the side of the clamp means.

The adjustable support of  claim 8 , further comprising a first set of serrated edges on an inside surface of the first side of the L-shaped base where the L-shaped base interfaces with the clamp means and a second set of serrated edge on the side surface of the clamp means where the clamp means interfaces with the L-shaped base, the first set of serrated edges angled towards the aperture and the second set of serrated edges angled away from the aperture.  
   
   
       11 . The adjustable support of  claim 8 , wherein the clamp means is made of a material selected from the group consisting of aluminum, steel, stainless steel, ultra-high molecular weight plastic and glass-filled polypropylene.  
   
   
       12 . The adjustable support of  claim 8 , wherein the L-shaped base is made a material selected from the group consisting of aluminum, steel, stainless steel, ultra-high molecular weight plastic and glass-filled polypropylene.  
   
   
       13 . The adjustable support of  claim 8 , wherein the opposed support surfaces are an inside surfaces of a door frame.  
   
   
       14 . The adjustable support of  claim 8 , wherein the opposed support surfaces are an inside surfaces of a window frame.  
   
   
       15 . An adjustable support for mounting a substantially planar object between substantially opposed support surfaces, the support comprising: 
 a substantially L-shaped base means having a first side and a second side;    a clamp means having a side surface and a bottom surface, the clamp means being removably and adjustably attached to the first side of the L-shaped base means forming an aperture between the second side of the L-shaped base means and the bottom surface of the clamp, the aperture adapted to accept the substantially planar object;    a pressure screw threaded through the clamp means and passing through an elongated hole in the first side of the L-shaped base means, the pressure screw adapted to apply force against a first support surface to wedge the substantially planar object between the first support surface and a substantially opposed second support surface;    a first set of serrated edges deposed on an inside surface of the first side of the L-shaped base means where the L-shaped base means interfaces with the clamp means, the first set of serrated edges angled towards the aperture; and    a second set of serrated edge deposed on the side of the clamp means where the clamp means interfaces with the L-shaped base means, and the second set of serrated edges angled away from the aperture.    
   
   
       16 . The adjustable support of  claim 15 , wherein the clamp means is removably attached by a plurality of screws passing through an equal number of elongated holes in the first side of the L-shaped base and into threaded holes in the side surface of the clamp means.  
   
   
       17 . The adjustable support of  claim 15 , wherein the clamp means is made of a material selected from the group consisting of aluminum, steel, stainless steel, ultra-high molecular weight plastic and glass-filled polypropylene.  
   
   
       18 . The adjustable support of  claim 15 , wherein the L-shaped base is made a material selected from the group consisting of aluminum, steel, stainless steel, ultra-high molecular weight plastic and glass-filled polypropylene.  
   
   
       19 . The adjustable support of  claim 15 , wherein the opposed support surfaces are an inside surfaces of a door frame.  
   
   
       20 . The adjustable support of  claim 15 , wherein the opposed support surfaces are an inside surfaces of a window frame.
