Method of managing recorded still pictures on a recording medium

Abstract

The present invention relates to a method of conducting management operations such as deletion, copy, and movement of recorded still pictures recorded on a recording medium. The present method records still pictures onto a recording medium, groups the recorded still pictures based on their attributes, creates a list listing filenames of respective still pictures belonging to each still-picture group, and writes the filename list onto the recording medium. Afterwards, if a deleting or an inter-group moving command is received for a still picture recorded on the recording medium, the present method deletes a filename of the still picture written on the filename list including the filename of the still picture. Such a still picture managing method through a filename list ensures that moving, copying, and deleting operations of numerous recorded still pictures can be conducted easily.

       16 . A method for managing data recorded on a recording medium, comprising: 
 providing a play list, wherein the play list has at least one play item designating at least one sequential playback; and    providing navigation information for each play item, so as to manage the corresponding play item,    wherein the navigation information includes at least one file name of data managed by the corresponding play item, and attribute information of the data managed by the corresponding play item, and    wherein the same play list is used to manage at least one still picture and audio data associated with the at least one still picture.    
   
   
       17 . The method of  claim 16 , wherein the attribute information includes at least one of the following: 
 coding mode information for video and/or audio data managed by the corresponding play item,    resolution information for video data managed by the corresponding play item, or sampling rate information for audio data managed by the corresponding play item.    
   
   
       18 . The method of  claim 16 , wherein the attribute information for each play item is stored in the corresponding play item included in the play list.  
   
   
       19 . The method of  claim 16 , wherein each play item includes information identifying the corresponding navigation information.  
   
   
       20 . The method of  claim 16 , wherein all still pictures and associated audio data for each play item have the same attribute information.  
   
   
       21 . A method for recording data on a recording medium, comprising: 
 recording data on the recording medium;    recording a play list on the recording medium, wherein the play list has at least one play item designating at least one sequential playback of the recorded data; and    recording navigation information for each play item on the recording medium, so as to manage the corresponding play item,    wherein the navigation information includes at least one file name of data managed by the corresponding play item, and attribute information of the data managed by the corresponding play item, and    wherein the same play list is used to manage at least one still picture and audio data associated with the at least one still picture.    
   
   
       22 . The method of  claim 21 , wherein the attribute information includes at least one of the following: 
 coding mode information for video and/or audio data managed by the corresponding play item,    resolution information for video data managed by the corresponding play item, or sampling rate information for audio data managed by the corresponding play item.    
   
   
       23 . The method of  claim 21 , wherein the attribute information for each play item is recorded in the corresponding play item included in the play list.  
   
   
       24 . The method of  claim 21 , wherein each play item includes information identifying the corresponding navigation information.  
   
   
       25 . The method of  claim 21 , wherein all still pictures and associated audio data for each play item have the same attribute information.  
   
   
       26 . A method for reproducing data from a recording medium, the recording medium including a play list having at least one play item designating at least one sequential playback, and navigation information for each play item, the method comprising: 
 reproducing data from the recording medium based on the play list and the navigation information, wherein the navigation information includes at least one file name of data managed by the corresponding play item, and attribute information of the data managed by the corresponding play item; and    managing, by using the same play list, at least one still picture and audio data associated with the at least one still picture.    
   
   
       27 . The method of  claim 26 , wherein the attribute information includes at least one of the following: 
 coding mode information for video and/or audio data managed by the corresponding play item,    resolution information for video data managed by the corresponding play item, or sampling rate information for audio data managed by the corresponding play item.    
   
   
       28 . The method of  claim 26 , wherein the attribute information for each play item is stored in the corresponding play item included in the play list recorded on the recording medium.  
   
   
       29 . The method of  claim 26 , wherein each play item includes information identifying the corresponding navigation information.  
   
   
       30 . The method of  claim 26 , wherein all still pictures and associated audio data for each play item have the same attribute information.
