Claims

Abstract

A method of continuously impregnating a resin impregnable cured in place liner in a resin impregnation tower is provided. A cured in place liner having at least one layer of resin impregnable material is fed into the top of the tower, drawn down about a roller at the bottom, removed from the top of the tower and then wrapped with an outer impermeable coating. The tower is filled with resin at a suitable height to provide a sufficient pressure head of resin to impregnate the resin impregnable material fully. The impregnated liner is suitable for inversion or the pull-in-and-inflate method of installation. For liners formed with an inner impermeable layer, the liner is suitable for curing with steam.

1 . A method of preparation of a cured in place liner, comprising: 
 providing a length of resin impregnable material having two edges;    forming the length of resin impregnable material into tubular form by joining the edges together to form a first tubular member including at least one layer of a resin impregnable material;    feeding the first tubular member into a resin impregnation tower filled with resin at a suitable height to provide a sufficient pressure head of resin to impregnate the resin impregnable material fully with resin;    withdrawing the impregnated tubular member from the tower; and    placing a resin impermeable coating about the impregnated tubular member.    
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the first tubular member is fed into the upper portion of the tower, drawn to the lower portion and removed from the upper portion of the tower.  
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the step of placing an outer coating about the tubular member includes the step of wrapping a planar sheet of resin impermeable material about the impregnated tubular member and sealing the edges of the sheet into a tube.  
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the step of placing a resin impermeable coating about the impregnated tubular member, includes providing a tube of resin impermeable material and placing the tube of resin impermeable material about the impregnated tubular member.  
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 4 , wherein the step of placing an outer coating about the impregnated tubular member includes everting a tube of impermeable material onto the impregnated tubular material as it passes through the outer coating.  
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the impermeable material includes a layer of resin impregnable material.  
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 1 , including the step of forming at least one additional tube of impregnable material about the first tubular member prior to feeding into the tower.  
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 7 , wherein the first tubular member is fed into the upper portion of the tower, drawn to the lower portion and removed from the upper portion of the tower.  
     
     
         9 . The method of  claim 8 , wherein the step of placing an outer coating about the tubular member includes the step of wrapping a planar sheet of resin impermeable material about the impregnated tubular member and sealing the edges of the sheet into a tube.  
     
     
         10 . The method of  claim 7 , wherein the step of placing a resin impermeable coating about the impregnated tubular member, includes providing a tube of resin impermeable material and placing the tube of resin impermeable material about the impregnated tubular  
     
     
         11 . The method of  claim 10 , wherein the step of placing an outer coating about the impregnated tubular member includes everting a tube of impermeable material onto the impregnated tubular material as it passes through the outer coating.  
     
     
         12 . The method of  claim 8 , wherein the impermeable material includes a layer of resin impregnable material.  
     
     
         13 . A method of impregnating a cured in place liner with resin, comprising: 
 providing a length of a first tubular member including at least one layer of a resin impregnable material;    feeding the tubular member into a resin impregnation tower filled with resin of suitable height to provide sufficient pressure to impregnate the resin impregnable material fully with resin; and    withdrawing the impregnated tubular member from the tower.    
     
     
         14 . The method of  claim 13 , wherein the first tubular member is fed into the upper portion of the tower, drawn to the lower portion and removed from the upper portion of the tower.  
     
     
         15 . The method of  claim 13 , including placing a resin impermeable coating about the impregnated tubular member.  
     
     
         16 . The method of  claim 15 , wherein the step of placing an outer coating about the tubular member includes the step of wrapping a planar sheet of resin impermeable material about the impregnated tubular member and sealing the edges of the sheet into a tube.  
     
     
         17 . The method of  claim 15 , wherein the step of placing a resin impermeable coating about the impregnated tubular member, includes providing a tube of resin impermeable material and placing the tube of resin impermeable material about the impregnated tubular member.  
     
     
         18 . The method of  claim 17 , wherein the step of placing an outer coating about the impregnated tubular member includes everting a tube of impermeable material onto the impregnated tubular material as it passes through the outer coating.  
     
     
         19 . The method of  claim 13 , wherein the resin impermeable material includes a layer of resin impregnable material.  
     
     
         20 . The method of  claim 15 , wherein the resin impermeable material is a sheet of impermeable material and forming the sheet into a tube and placing the tube about the tubular member.  
     
     
         21 . The method of  claim 20 , wherein the step of forming the tube of impermeable material includes the step of drawing the edges of the sheet together and sealing the edges of the sheet into a tube.  
     
     
         22 . The method of  claim 21 , wherein the edges are drawn together to be parallel and sealed together with an edge sealer.  
     
     
         23 . The method of  claim 13 , including the step of forming at least one additional tube of impregnable material about the first tubular member prior to feeding into the tower.  
     
     
         24 . The method of  claim 23 , including the steps of feeding the tubular member into the upper portion of the tower, through the lower portion and removing the tubular member from the upper portion of the tower.  
     
     
         25 . The method of  claim 23 , including placing a resin impermeable coating about the impregnated tubular member.  
     
     
         26 . The method of  claim 24 , wherein the step of placing an outer coating about the tubular member includes the step of wrapping a planar sheet of resin impermeable material about the impregnated tubular member and sealing the edges of the sheet into a tube.  
     
     
         27 . The method of  claim 15 , wherein the step of placing a resin impermeable coating about the impregnated tubular member, includes providing a tube of resin impermeable material and placing the tube of resin impermeable material about the impregnated tubular member.  
     
     
         28 . The method of  claim 22 , wherein the step of placing an outer coating about the impregnated tubular member includes everting a tube of impermeable material onto the impregnated tubular material as it passes through the outer coating.
