Siding trim

Abstract

The present disclosure is a siding trim that includes at least three trim elements each having at least two recesses associated therewith. The two recesses share a traversing frame element. The traversing frame element has at least two projecting elements projecting outwardly therefrom. The two recesses selectively receive and retain one or more panel elements. The two recesses bias against the one or more panel elements to soundly retain the one or more panel elements therein.

1 . A siding trim element comprising: 
 a traversing element having a first end opposite a second end;    an outer element having a first end integral with said first end of said traversing element, a second end opposite said first end, and a flange integral with said second end, said flange having a first portion substantially parallel to said traversing element and a second portion substantially perpendicular to said traversing element, wherein said outer element projects outwardly from said traversing element forming a first recess configured to receive and retain a first siding panel element; and    a L-shaped element having a first portion with a first end integral said traversing element and a second end opposite said first end, a second portion with a first end perpendicular to and integral said second end of said first portion and a second end opposite said first end, and a flange integral with an end of said second portion, said flange having a first portion substantially perpendicular to said traversing element and a second portion substantially parallel to said traversing element, wherein said L-shaped element projects outwardly from said traversing element forming a second recess with said traversing element, said second recess configured to receive and retain a second siding panel element;    wherein an opening of said first recess is in a substantially different plane than an opening of said second recess.    
   
   
       2 . The siding trim element of  claim 1 , wherein the siding trim, said first siding panel element, and said second panel element are constructed of a material selected from the group consisting of aluminum, vinyl, plastic coated metal, and steel.  
   
   
       3 . The siding trim element of  claim 1 , wherein said traversing element forms a rear wall of said first recess and said traversing element forms a side wall of said second recess.  
   
   
       4 . The siding trim element of  claim 1 , wherein said first portion of said L-shaped element forms a border of said first recess.  
   
   
       5 . The siding trim element of  claim 1 , wherein said flange of said outer element extends sufficiently from said outer element to receive and retain said first siding panel element.  
   
   
       6 . The siding trim element of  claim 1 , wherein said flange of said L-shaped element extends sufficiently from said L-shaped element to receive and retain said second siding panel element.  
   
   
       7 . The siding trim element of  claim 1 , wherein said flange of said outer element is configured to be flexible to receive and retain said first siding panel element and said flange of said L-shaped element is configured to be flexible to receive and retain said second siding panel element.  
   
   
       8 . The siding trim element of  claim 1 , wherein said L-shaped element extends from said traversing element at a position on said traversing element sufficient for said first recess to receive and retain said first siding panel element.  
   
   
       9 . The siding trim element of  claim 1 , further comprising: 
 a hole disposed near said second end of said traversing element and configured to receive and retain a fastener.    
   
   
       10 . The siding trim element of  claim 1 , wherein said L-shaped element is sufficiently spaced from said outer element and is substantially parallel to said outer element.  
   
   
       11 . A method of using a siding trim element at a soffit of a structure comprising providing the siding trim element, the siding trim element including: 
 a traversing element having a first end opposite a second end;    an outer element having a first end integral with said first end of said traversing element, a second end opposite said first end, and a flange integral with said second end, said flange having a first portion substantially parallel to said traversing element and a second portion substantially perpendicular to said traversing element, wherein said outer element projects outwardly from said traversing element forming a first recess configured to receive and retain a first siding panel element; and    a L-shaped element having a first portion with a first end integral said traversing element and a second end opposite said first end, a second portion with a first end perpendicular to and integral said second end of said first portion and a second end opposite said first end, and a flange integral with an end of said second portion, said flange having a first portion substantially perpendicular to said traversing element and a second portion substantially parallel to said traversing element, wherein said L-shaped element projects outwardly from said traversing element forming a second recess with said traversing element, said second recess configured to receive and retain a second siding panel element;    wherein an opening of said first recess is in a substantially different plane than an opening of said second recess;    fastening the siding trim element to said structure adjacent the soffit by disposing a fastener in a hole positioned near said second end of said traversing element;    disposing said first siding panel element within said first recess; and    disposing said second siding panel element within said second recess.    
   
   
       12 . The method of  claim 11 , wherein the siding trim, said first siding panel element, and said second panel element are constructed of a material selected from the group consisting of aluminum, vinyl, plastic coated metal, and steel.  
   
   
       13 . The method of  claim 11 , wherein said traversing element forms a rear wall of said first recess and said traversing element forms a side wall of said second recess.  
   
   
       14 . The method of  claim 11 , wherein said first portion of said L-shaped element forms a border of said first recess.  
   
   
       15 . The method of  claim 11 , wherein said flange of said outer element extends sufficiently from said outer element to receive and retain said first siding panel element.  
   
   
       16 . The method of  claim 11 , wherein said flange of said L-shaped element extends sufficiently from said L-shaped element to receive and retain said second siding panel element.
