Abstract

A blank for making a case for a compact disc comprising a first surface and a second surface, said first surface being separated from the second surface by a first side wall, said first side wall being joined to the first surface and the second surface at first and second score lines respectively, said second surface having a second sidewall and a third sidewall, said second sidewall and said third sidewalls being on opposite sides of said second surface, said sidewalls being separated from said second surface by score lines, each of said second and third sidewalls having extending therefrom a wing separated from said sidewall by a score line, said wings having a first edge with a first length and a second edge with a second length and wherein said first length is greater than said second length, said first edge having extending therefrom a third edge and said second edge having extending therefrom an arcuate member, wherein one end of said arcuate member connects with one end of said first edge, said first surface having a retaining means on the side of the first surface opposite the first sidewall, said retaining means being separated from said first surface by a score line, said retaining means having a body portion that has first and second side walls as well as a first finger and a second finger extending from said sidewalls, said fingers being separated from each other by an arcuate edge.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified

2 . The blank according to claim 1 wherein the arcuate edge extending from one finger to the other finger is semicircular.

3 . The blank according to claim 1 wherein the fingers each have an outer edge and an inner edge, said inner edge and outer edge being joined together at a tip

4 . The blank according to claim 3 wherein the tips are in the form of a semicircle.

5 . A compact disc case made from the blank of claim 1 wherein said wings have been folded inwardly, the first surface having been folded over towards the second surface and the fingers have been folded under the wings so that they are between the wings and the second surface.

6 . The compact disc case according to claim 5 wherein an adhesive is placed on a at least portion surface of the wings adjacent to the first surface.

7 . The compact disc case according to claim 5 wherein a compact disc is retained in place by the arcuate edge on said retaining means.

8 . The compact disc case according to claim 5 wherein a compact disc is retained in place by the fingers on the retaining means.

9 . The compact disc case according to claim 5 where a compact disc may be released from said case by gently squeezing opposite sidewalls toward each other causing the first surface and the second surface to separate from each other.
