Peel seal tamper evident bag

Abstract

Both apparatus and methods for flexible recloseable containers with peel seals are disclosed. In one embodiment, the peel seal has a height greater than the height of the fastener strip flange to which it is attached. The upper portion of the peel seal is attached to the flange. The lower portion of peel seal is attached to a wall of the container. Also disclosed are methods for fabricating containers, and also for forming, filling, sealing a container with a product therein.

       6 . A flexible recloseable container comprising: 
 a web of flexible film adapted and configured into the shape of a container with a first wall and a second wall attached to each other around at least a portion of the periphery thereof and defining a mouth having first and second sides, said first wall having a first inner surface, said second wall having a second inner surface facing the first inner surface;    a first fastener strip including a first closure element and a first flange depending downwardly from said first closure element, said first flange having a first inner face, said first fastener strip being attached to the mouth along the first side;    a second fastener strip including a second closure element and a second flange depending downwardly from said second closure element, said second flange having a second inner face; said first closure element and said second closure element being adapted and configured for interlocking to each other, said first inner face facing toward said second inner face when said first fastener strip and said second fastener strip are at least partially interlocked with each other, said second fastener strip being attached to the mouth along the second side;    a slider slidably mounted to said first and second fastener strips, said slider being adapted and configured to slide in a first direction along said profiles and interlock said first closure element to said second closure element and slide in a second direction opposite to the first direction to unlock said first closure element from said second closure element;    a peel seal extending between said first flange and said second flange and attached to at least one of the said first flange or said second flange along the corresponding inner face the one said flange having a bottommost edge, said peel seal extending below the bottommost edge.    
   
   
       7 . A flexible recloseable container comprising: 
 a web of flexible film adapted and configured into the shape of a container with a first wall and a second wall attached to each other around at least a portion of the periphery thereof;    a first fastener strip including a first closure element and a first flange depending downwardly from said first closure element, said first fastener strip being attached to said first wall;    a second fastener strip including a second closure element and a second flange depending downwardly from said second closure element, said first closure element and said second closure element being adapted and configured for interlocking to each other, said first inner face facing toward said second inner face, said second fastener strip being attached to said second wall;    a slider slidably mounted to said first and second fastener strips, said slider being adapted and configured to slide in a first direction along said profiles and interlock said first closure element to said second closure element and slide in a second direction opposite to the first direction to unlock said first closure element from said second closure element;    a tamper evident seal covering at least a portion of said first fastener strip and said second fastener strip;    a peel seal having two sides with a first side attached to said first flange, and the second side not being attached to said second flange.    
   
   
       8 . The container of  claim 7  wherein the container is a stand up pouch.  
   
   
       9 . The container of  claim 7  wherein the outer surface of the first flange is attached to the mouth of the container.  
   
   
       10 . A method for placing a product in a flexible recloseable container, comprising: 
 providing a first and second interlockable fastener strips each including a flange having an inner face, a web of flexible film, a peel seal, and a plurality of sliders;    attaching the peel seal to the inner face of the first fastener strip;    feeding the pair of interlockable fastener strips with the attached peel seal;    forming the web to have first and second walls;    feeding the web of flexible film;    attaching the first fastener strip to the first wall and attaching the second fastener strip to the second wall;    placing the plurality of sliders on the pair of interlockable fastener strips; and    placing a product within the web.    
   
   
       11 . The method of  claim 10  wherein the second wall has an inner surface and which further comprises attaching the peel seal to the inner surface of the second wall.  
   
   
       12 . The method of  claim 10  which further comprises not attaching the peel seal to the second fastener strip.  
   
   
       13 . The method of  claim 10  which further comprises placing the plurality of sliders before said attaching the first fastener strip.  
   
   
       14 . A method for manufacturing a flexible recloseable container, comprising: 
 providing a first and second interlockable fastener strips each including a flange having an inner face, a web of flexible film, a peel seal, and a plurality of sliders;    attaching the peel seal to the inner face of the first fastener strip;    feeding the pair of interlockable fastener strips with the attached peel seal;    forming the web to have first and second walls;    feeding the web of flexible film;    attaching the first fastener strip to the first wall and attaching the second fastener strip to the second wall; and    placing the plurality of sliders on the pair of interlockable fastener strips.    
   
   
       15 . The method of  claim 14  wherein the second wall has an inner surface and which further comprises attaching the peel seal to the inner surface of the second wall.  
   
   
       16 . The method of  claim 14  which further comprises not attaching the peel seal to the second fastener strip.  
   
   
       17 . The method of  claim 14  which further comprises placing the plurality of sliders before said attaching the first fastener.  
   
   
       18 . The container of  claim 6  wherein the peel seal has a height which is greater than the height of the one said flange of the fastener profile.  
   
   
       19 . The container of  claim 6  wherein said peel seal extends at least 0.2 inches below the bottom edge.  
   
   
       20 . The container of  claim 6  wherein said peel seal has a length which is substantially the same as the length of said fastener strip of the same said flange.  
   
   
       21 . The container of  claim 6  wherein said peel seal is a three layer laminate coextruded with said fastener strip of the one said flange.  
   
   
       22 . The container of  claim 7  wherein the peel seal has a height which is greater than the height of the one said flange of the fastener profile.  
   
   
       23 . The container of  claim 7  wherein said peel seal extends at least 0.2 inches below the bottom edge.  
   
   
       24 . The container of  claim 7  wherein said peel seal has a length which is substantially the same as the length of said fastener strip of the same said flange.  
   
   
       25 . The container of  claim 7  wherein said peel seal is a three layer laminate coextruded with said fastener strip of the one said flange.
