Abstract

A plate for a barbell is provided. The plate has a weight either of 0.5 lbs, 1 lb, 2 lbs, 3 lbs, 4 lbs, 5 lbs, 10 lbs, 20 lbs, 30 lbs, 40 lbs, 50 lbs, 27.5 lbs, or 52.5 lbs, and has a through-going aperture or a hole adapted to receive therein a bar. The bar has a weight of 45 lbs.

1 . A plate at least for a barbell, the plate having a weight selected from the group comprising 0.5 lbs, 1 lb, 2 lbs, 3 lbs, 4 lbs, 5 lbs, 10 lbs, 20 lbs, 30 lbs, 40 lbs, 50 lbs, 27.5 lbs. and 52.5 lbs, the plate having a hole adapted to receive therein a bar. 
   
   
       2 . A plate according to  claim 1 , wherein the bar has a weight of 45 lbs. 
   
   
       3 . A plate according to  claim 1 , further adapted to be mounted to a plate-loaded exercise machine. 
   
   
       4 . A set of plates at least for a barbell, the set comprising plates having weights of 20 lbs, 30 lbs, 40 lbs, and 50 lbs, each plate having a hole adapted to receive therein a bar. 
   
   
       5 . A set of plates according to  claim 3 , further comprising two plates, each plate having a hole adapted to receive therein the bar and having a weight of 27.5 lbs. 
   
   
       6 . A set of plates according to  claim 3 , further comprising two plates, each plate having a hole adapted to receive therein the bar and having a weight of 52.5 lbs. 
   
   
       7 . A set of plates according to  claim 3 , wherein the bar has a weight of 45 lbs. 
   
   
       8 . A set of plates according to  claim 6 , further comprising the bar. 
   
   
       9 . A set of plates according to  claim 4 , further comprising at least two collars adapted to be fixed to a longitudinal position on the bar. 
   
   
       10 . A set of plates according to  claim 4 , further adapted to be mounted to a plate-loaded exercise machine. 
   
   
       11 . A set of plates at least for a barbell, the set comprising plates having different weights, wherein plates of the same weight are of the same color, and of a different color from at least some plates of a different weight. 
   
   
       12 . A set of plates according to  claim 11 , further comprising a first portion of plates each being of a first weight, and a second portion of plates each being of a second weight, the first weight being a product of the second weight and a round factor of ten, wherein the plates of said first and second portions are of the same color. 
   
   
       13 . A set of plates according to  claim 12 , comprising plates having weights of 50 lbs, 40 lbs, 30 lbs, 20 lbs, 10 lbs, 5 lbs, 4 lbs, 3 lbs, 2 lbs, and 1 lb, wherein the plates having weights of 50 lbs and 5 lbs. are of a first color, the plates having weights of 40 lbs and 4 lbs. are of a second color, the plates having weights of 30 lbs and 3 lbs. are of a third color, the plates having weights of 20 lbs and 2 lbs. are of a fourth color, and the plates having weights of 10 lbs and 1 lb. are all of a fifth color, said first, second, third, fourth, and fifth colors being different from one another. 
   
   
       14 . A set of plates according to  claim 12 , further comprising plates having a weight of 0.5 lbs, said plates being of the first color. 
   
   
       15 . A set of plates according to  claim 11 , further comprising a first portion of plates each being of a first weight, and a second portion of plates each being of a second weight, the product of the first weight and one hundred equals the second weight, wherein the plates of said first and second portions are of the same color. 
   
   
       16 . A set of plates according  claim 11 , further adapted to be mounted to a plate-loaded exercise machine. 
   
   
       17 . A plate at least for a barbell, wherein the value of the total Weight in pounds of the barbell with the addition of exactly two of the plates to said bar is a round number equal to or greater than 60. 
   
   
       18 . A plate according to  claim 17 , wherein the value of the weight in pounds of the bar is a non-round number. 
   
   
       19 . A plate according to  claim 17 , having an indication thereon of its weight in pounds and/or its mass in kilograms. 
   
   
       20 . A set of plates according to  claim 16  further adapted to be mounted to a plate-loaded exercise machine. 
   
   
       21 . A plate to be mounted to a bar forming thereby a barbell, the plate having a weight greater than 5 pounds, wherein the value of weight in pounds which is 2½ more than an even multiple of five. 
   
   
       22 . A plate according to  claim 21 , wherein the value of the weight in pounds is selected from the group comprising 7½, 12½, 17½, 22½, 27½, 32½, 37½, 42½, 47½, 52½, 57½, 62½, 67½, 72½, and 77½.
