Abstract

Non-toxic, naturally derived and economical compositions for treating and preventing bacterial or fungal disease in plants, especially citrus canker, wherein such compositions include various combinations of d-limonene, wax and monohydric alcohol are provided. Methods for making and using such compositions are also provided.

       22 . A method for reducing the incidence of disease in a plant species comprising applying to said plant species a composition which comprises monohydric alcohol, d-limonene, and wax or wax extract.  
   
   
       23 . The method of  claim 22 , wherein the plant species is citrus.  
   
   
       24 . The method of  claim 23 , wherein the disease is citrus canker.  
   
   
       25 . The method of  claim 22 , wherein the wax comprises beeswax or extract of beeswax.  
   
   
       26 . The method of  claim 22 , wherein the monohydric alcohol is selected from the group consisting of ethanol, methanol and butanol, alone or in combination.  
   
   
       27 . The method of  claim 26 , wherein the wax comprises beeswax or extract of beeswax.  
   
   
       28 . The method of  claim 27 , wherein the plant is a member of a citrus species and the disease is citrus canker.  
   
   
       29 . The method of  claim 28 , wherein the composition is applied by spraying.
