Connection test method and information processing apparatus performing the same

Abstract

A method for an information processing apparatus to test a connection to an information storage server from which the information processing apparatus obtains information is disclosed. The method includes the steps of (a) receiving a request for a connection test using connection information for establishing the connection to the information storage server from a screen on which at least part of the connection information is entered; (b) testing the connection to the information storage server based on the request for the connection test; and (c) outputting the result of the connection test.

A method for an information processing apparatuses to test a connection with an information storage server from which the information processing apparatus obtains information, the information processing apparatus shares the information storage server with another information processing apparatus, the method comprising: 
 receiving a request for a connection test using connection information for establishing the connection from a first screen on which at least part of the connection information is entered;    testing the connection based on the request for the connection test; and    displaying a result of the connection test together with an input for details of the result on a second screen.    
   
   
       2 . The method as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein the details of the result is output upon an operation of the input therefor.  
   
   
       3 . The method as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein the second screen further includes an input for a printout of the result.  
   
   
       4 . A method for an information processing apparatuses to test a connection with an information storage server from which the information processing apparatus obtains information, the information processing apparatus shares the information storage server with another information processing apparatus, the method comprising: 
 receiving a request for a connection test using connection information for establishing the connection from a first screen on which at least part of the connection information is entered;    testing the connection based on the request for the connection test; and    outputting a result of the connection test in a form of an e-mail message for transmission.    
   
   
       5 . The method as claimed in  claim 4 , wherein the e-mail message is a text message.  
   
   
       6 . The method as claimed in  claim 4 , wherein the e-mail message contains an image.  
   
   
       7 . A method for an information processing apparatuses to test a connection with an information storage server from which the information processing apparatus obtains information, the information processing apparatus shares the information storage server with another information processing apparatus, the method comprising: 
 receiving a request for a connection test using connection information for establishing the connection from a first screen on which at least part of the connection information is entered;    testing the connection based on the request for the connection test; and    outputting a result of the connection test,    wherein at least one of a plurality of connection test items, by which the connection with the information storage server is tested, is selected in the request for the connection test, and    one of a plurality of levels, at which the connection with the information storage server is tested, is selected with respect to the selected at least one of the connection test items in the request for the connection test.    
   
   
       8 . The method as claimed in  claim 7 , wherein a default value is selected as the one of the levels.  
   
   
       9 . An information storage device used in a system where an information processing apparatus tests a connection to the information storage device from which the information processing apparatus obtains information, the information storage device being used in common by one or more information processing apparatuses, wherein: 
 an input for at least part of connection information for establishing a connection to the information storage device and a connection test input for testing the connection are simultaneously displayed on a same screen in the information processing apparatus,    a request for a connection test using the connection information is received from the same screen on which the at least part of the connection information is entered in the information processing apparatus,    the connection to the information storage device is tested based on the request for the connection test,    a result of the connection test is output in the information processing apparatus,    at least one connection test item, by which the connection with the information storage device is tested, is selected by a user in the request for the connection test, the connection test item defining a type of the connection test used in the connection with the information storage device, and    the at least one connection test item includes use of the information stored in the information storage device.
